The IT Customer Web team is responsible for development and operations of PGE.COM and customer-facing web and mobile applications.

 

Position Summary

The IT Customer Web team is seeking an expert level Application Lead to drive the design, development, and delivery of innovative customer-facing self-service solutions for Customer Care. 

 

This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, serving as a key contributor in the development of Salesforce and AWS-based applications that support critical business and customer needs. The successful candidate will partner closely with business analysts, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions while mentoring developers, establishing best practices, and ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology standards.

 

This role offers an opportunity to lead the development of innovative customer-facing solutions using Salesforce and AWS technologies while making a meaningful impact on customer experience.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA approximately once per week, or more, based on business needs or company requirements.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the design, development, configuration, testing, and support of Salesforce and AWS-based customer-facing self-service applications.
  • Analyze business requirements and existing systems to design scalable technical solutions, application logic, and database structures.
  • Provide technical leadership for complex projects, coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring successful delivery of enhancements and new capabilities.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, architects, project managers, and vendors to translate business needs into functional and technical designs.
  • Establish and enforce development standards, security requirements, and governance practices while reviewing and approving solution designs, code, and technical documentation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, resolving complex application issues and supporting technology modernization initiatives.
  • Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance, code reviews, and best-practice recommendations.
  • Represent the team in client and vendor engagements and support project planning, risk management, and resource coordination.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • 7 years' experience in programming analysis including designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining Salesforce Cloud solutions (Experience, Service, or Energy & Utilities) or related 

 

Desired:

 

  • Experience leading customer-facing technology projects.
  • Understanding of utility customer journeys, including payments and outage management.
  • Salesforce development expertise, including Experience Cloud, Service Cloud, or Energy & Utilities Cloud.
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce core data model, standard and custom objects.
  • Experience with AWS-based application development and integrations.
  • Experience with Salesforce user roles, configuration, and security controls.
  • Strong coding skills in modern programming languages and web technologies.
  • Experience with logical database design, application architecture, APIs, and systems integration.
  • Knowledge of Lightning Web Components (LWC), Apex, SOQL, OmniStudio, REST APIs, JSON, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL.
  • Experience with source control and DevOps tools such as Git, Salesforce CLI, and Copado.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams.
  • Experience mentoring developers and reviewing technical designs and code.
  • Strong stakeholder management and vendor coordination skills.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex application and integration issues.
  • Experience driving process improvements and technology modernization initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.

 

Compensation

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position.  The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.  The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum and midpoint listed below.  The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Bay Area Min: $128,000.00

Bay Area Mid: $173,000.00

Bay Area Max: $218,000.00
