Department Overview

The Utility Partnerships and Innovation (UP&I) Leadership team is focused on the creation of transformative, scalable solutions to interlocking utility challenges through the development of third-party partnerships and the deployment of new technology and solutions that directly accelerates PG&E’s long-term strategy.

 

The Demand Response Operations & Programs team within UP&I develops, manages, and operates PG&E’s 400-megawatt demand response (DR) program portfolio, which is utilized during periods of strain on the electric grid or during periods of high prices. The DR team works closely with other UP&I departments involved in load management policies and programs, with PG&E’s Energy Policy and Procurement department, and with PG&E’s Business Energy Solutions and Customer Operations teams.

 

Position Summary

The Program Manager will be responsible for all facets of administering one or multiple residential Demand Response programs, including enrollment and participation, performances, and customer relationship management.

 

The Program Manager must be able to work collaboratively with various internal and external parties, be a critical thinker who can quickly develop an understanding of “why” and “how” things are done and constructively challenging the status quo. The Program Manager will collaborate with other program managers on interdependencies between programs and may support more senior program managers running other programs. The Program Manager will also collaborate with the Demand Response Operations team to ensure that customer issues are quickly resolved and that IT systems meet customer requirements  

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The preferred work location is Oakland, CA and may require 1-3 days per week. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $85,000

Bay Area Maximum: $127,000

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage relationship with and provide direction to vendor(s)
  • Develop, measure, and report on success of the program
  • Identify and maintain strong working relationships with all strategic programs and partners
  • Partner with Regulatory and Compliance staff to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and support regulatory activities by supplying information for filings, data requests, and meeting with regulators.
  • Identify stakeholders and communicate within and outside of PG&E
  • Develop and/or implement policies and procedures
  • Identify new partners, technologies, and delivery channels Complete assignments of moderate scope and complexity
  • Participate on project teams
  • Participate in cyclical Emergency On-Call rotations
  • Communicate with peers inside and outside of PG&E exchanging ideas or gathering information

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years of related experience

 

Desired:

  • BA or BS in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environment, Management, Public Policy, Science or similar area or equivalent work experience
  • Experience such as customer relationship management, program management, product management, and/or strategic planning)
  • Critical thinker who takes initiative
  • Customer relationship management or customer account management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work with many personality types
  • Intermediate level of experience utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Analytical with proven ability to conduct data analysis that drives decisions
  • Experience with technology and/or strong interest in technology, particularly communication and control technologies
  • Knowledge of Demand Response and/or Demand Side Management programs and partnerships
  • Project and/or process management experience
  • Collaborative nature, ability, and willingness to become an integral part of the team and the cyclical Emergency On-Call rotation
