Department Overview
Transmission Line Engineering designs and supports the safe, reliable, and resilient operation of PG&E’s electric transmission system. The department is responsible for transmission line engineering solutions that support capital projects, maintenance work, emergency response, regulatory commitments, and long-term grid reliability. The team partners closely with Maintenance & Construction, Asset Strategy, Protection, Operations, and other functional areas to identify system needs, develop practical engineering solutions, and support timely execution.
The Transmission Line Engineering Reliability team is a developing team focused on improving transmission system reliability through data-informed engineering, outage learnings, proactive risk identification, and targeted reliability improvements. The team will support both reactive outage response and proactive reliability planning by helping identify where transmission line conditions, asset health, clearances, protection performance, or recurring outage drivers may require action.
Position Summary
The Expert Program Manager will help stand up and lead key transmission engineering reliability initiatives for the Transmission Line Engineering Reliability team. This role will partner closely with transmission line engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to scope, develop, deploy, and sustain programs that improve outage response, reduce reliability risk, and strengthen the resiliency of PG&E’s electric transmission system.
The initial focus of this role will include leading program management for transmission system modeling and analysis efforts that support Public Safety Power Shutoff scoping, outage response, risk identification, clearance and asset-condition analysis, and reliability-focused engineering solutions. The role will help translate technical analysis into actionable work plans, stakeholder alignment, resource plans, leadership updates, and measurable outcomes.
The successful candidate will have strong program management discipline, sound judgment, and the ability to operate in an evolving team environment where priorities, processes, and operating rhythms are still being developed. The candidate should be comfortable working across engineering, Maintenance & Construction, Asset Strategy, Protection, Operations, Reliability, contractors, and leadership to define problems, align stakeholders, remove barriers, and drive work to completion.
This position is hybrid, reporting to the assigned office 1-2 days per week, or as needed. This position may require travel for on-site meetings and may also require occasional irregular work hours to meet deadlines.
