Department Overview

 

Position Summary

Responsible for identifying and facilitating the implementation of programmatic and site-specific technical remediation strategies. Ensures that remediation strategies address financial, reputational and regulatory risks associated with the remediation projects. Directly supports the identification and implementation of department strategies and goals. Responsible for ensuring consistency in applying technical remediation strategies between site-specific projects within the Environmental Remediation Program.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • External Affairs: Supports PG&E Media Relations to represent PG&E with the media to promote awareness of ongoing and planned activities. Supports the development of external communication products including news releases and talking points.
  • Relationship Building: Communicates regularly with PG&E senior management, State regulators, project stakeholders and outside technical experts. Develops and delivers effective and pursuasive presentations to senior mangement and key stakeholders. Maintains and improve relationships with regulators, the community, and key stakeholders. Promotes innovation for solutions that benefit stakeholders as well as PG&E's environmental leadership position.
  • Strategy Development: Establishes strategies to deal with technical, political, and community issues and lead teams to reach agreement on actions necessary to achieve goals. Continually re-assesses business conditions; evaluates response options, and recommends/authorizes changes in scope as necessary to achieve goals. Approves cost-effective strategies to minimize shareholder risk, ensure prudent spending of ratepayer dollars, and maintain excellent Company reputation.
  • Technical: Consistently provides excellent, science-based results and recommendations for identifying, reviewing and approving technical remediation strategies. Oversees and facilitates teams of external subject experts to review the technical aspects of remediation projects and provide strategically-based and sound recommendations. Remains current in the state of the science for technical remediation techniques and strategies. Is viewed both within PG&E and outside of PG&E as a technical subject matter expert in applying environmental remediation technologies. When necessary, assists PG&E Law Department by serving as a witness in claims cases or other legal matters.

    Qualifications

    Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 10 years
  • Record of HAZWOPER-Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Hazardous Waste Site Operations, Supervisor training completion
  • Record of HAZWOPER-Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Hazardous Waste Site Operations training completion
  • Desired:

  • Graduate Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 15 years
  • PE-Professional Engineer license
  • Professional Geophysicist license
