Department Overview

Our Government Funded Program Management Office (GF PMO) exists to ensure successful government award administration. Government awards include funding mechanisms like loans, grants, and tax incentives at the federal and state level. As part of the GF PMO, you will collaborate with professionals from finance, major projects, sourcing, environmental, legal, and policy to manage government funded programs that enable California’s prosperity and reduce customer rates. Our team is made up of talented and passionate individuals, including program managers, strategic analysts, compliance reporting specialists, and subject matter experts. Our team’s work shall create prosperity for all customers and investors.

 

Position Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Strategic Analyst, Principal to join our expanding Government Funded Program Management Office (GF PMO) team. The successful candidate is a subject matter expert who can create strategies to utilize government awards to achieve PG&E’s goals. They will be skilled at gathering and analyzing project-level data to create holistic funding strategies aligned with known and anticipated constraints. They will be adept at communicating these funding strategies to stakeholders ranging from individual contributors to executives. And they will be able to coordinate with project managers, sourcing, and environmental to ensure funding requirements are known and processes are in place to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities typically include many or all of the following:

 

  • Provides strategic planning and analyses, and policy development.
  • Develops strategies to support programs and initiatives incorporating understanding of customer needs, industry direction, business impacts and company vision.
  • Works with government agencies, regulators, utility industry peers and/or internal departments to influence the company and/or regulatory and industry efforts around current and future priorities, funding constraints and future business needs.
  • Influences company and/or regulatory and/or industry priorities considering inputs from customer research, business impacts and PG&E strategies and priorities.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 

A Reasonable Salary Range:

Bay Area – $136,000-$202,400

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Undertakes assignments of the highest complexity and impact to PG&E.
  • Solves unique and complex strategic issues and problems.
  • Develops government funded award administration strategy given known and anticipated constraints.
  • Articulate and clearly present government funded award administration strategy to diverse set of stakeholders, ranging from individual contributors to executives, across several functional areas.
  • Respond timely and accurately to routine and ad-hoc data requests.
  • Utilize PG&E tools like SAP and project management reports to pull, organize, analyze, and present project-level data and strategies.
  • Strategically engage with external government partners to articulate and further PG&E’s goals.
  • Manages major cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Coaches, mentors and trains others in strategy development and implementation of Lean tools and practices.
  • Leads development of testimony on complex analysis and policy issues.
  • Develops and implements plans to engage key functional areas such as project management and sourcing to ensure award requirements are understood and processes are in place to ensure compliance.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Sociology, Policy, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience
  • 8 years of job-related experience

 

 

Desired

  • Graduate degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Public Policy, Sociology, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to lead department wide modeling and data initiatives of the highest complexity and impact, taking a broad perspective and identifying innovative solutions.
  • Ability to present highly complex data and findings to diverse audiences from individual contributors to upper management, including government, industry and regulatory stakeholders
  • Ability to use understanding of the business to help drive strategic decision making, and to recommend operational improvements
  • Deep knowledge and expertise of business and or industry drivers, regulatory policy and policy strategy and development processes
  • Ability to analyze business processes and recommend improvements to gain efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ability to lead and implement key process improvements
  • Ability to integrate macro and micro economic factors and statistical analysis into decision making
  • Understanding of PG&E, or similar project management standards, procedures, requirements and tools and ability to pull, organize, analyze, and present project level data and strategies.
  • History of mentoring and teaching others and a desire to continue to do so.
  • Enjoys working on complex multi-stage projects with a diverse team.
