The Procurement Organization includes a staff of more than three hundred sourcing managers, buyers, and analysts. Our mission is to deliver cost effective and valued procurement services through strategic, diverse, and sustainable business solutions. Our work requires close integration with all lines of business, finance, and our suppliers.
The Procurement Excellence Center (PEC) is a strategic function dedicated to driving procurement transformation, operational efficiency, and value creation across the organization. Within the Procurement organization, the PEC establishes best practices, standardizes processes, and leverages advanced analytics and market intelligence to enable data-driven decision-making. The PEC collaborates with all Procurement teams to enhance capabilities, improve performance, and optimize costs. Key focus areas include market intelligence and analytics, digital procurement transformation, risk management, supplier relationship management, governance, and capability development.
Position Summary
Conducts research, data analysis, forecasting and reporting in support of business decision making, strategy and operations. Participates in business process improvement, quality control and other initiatives. Develops, manages and coordinates performance and quality assessment, business process re-engineering, change management, communication and training.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $136,000
Bay Area Maximum: $232,000
Reporting Relationship
Principal Sourcing Analyst will report to the Procurement Analytics Manager
Job Responsibilities
- Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions
- Presents findings and recommendations to senior leaders to gain agreement
- Works with senior management to support strategic planning and decision making
- Independently implements and manages major cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Develops complex models to review market trends, evaluate pricing, and quantify benefits in support of large Procurement initiatives
- Performs advanced analysis, benchmarking/market intelligence studies, spend analysis, and needs assessment in support of the development of portfolio and category strategies.
- Leads process in requirement gathering, creation, implementation, and management of dashboards driving effective and clear visual management
- Serves as a liaison between Procurement and other departments (finance, business units) in support of Procurement analysis, KPIs, and data requests.
- Technical Skills Required – Advanced MS Excel, MS Access, PowerBI, PowerAutomate, PowerApps, SharePoint Online, SQL.
Background Qualifications
Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Sociology, Policy, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience
- Requires a minimum of eight years of job-related experience
Desired
- Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Public Policy, Sociology, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience
- Technical Skills – Advanced MS Excel, MS Access, PowerBI, PowerAutomate, PowerApps, SharePoint Online, SQL.
- Experience with large data sets
- Ten years of job-related experience
- Experience in Procurement and Sourcing, 3-4 yrs
- CPSM Certified
- LSS Certified
- Ability to lead department wide modeling and data initiatives of the highest complexity and impact
- Ability to present highly complex data and findings to diverse audiences which may include upper management, industry and regulatory stakeholders
- Ability to use understanding of the business to help drive strategic decision making, and to recommend operational improvements
- Deep knowledge and expertise of business and or industry drivers, regulatory policy and policy strategy and development process
- Ability to analyze business processes and recommend improvements to gain efficiency and effectiveness
- Ability to lead and implement key process improvements
- Ability to integrate macro and statistical analysis into decision making
