Department Overview

The men and women of General Counsel & Ethics, Risk and Compliance ensure the delivery of safe and reliable service to our customers. This department partners with the Electric Organization to ensure responsibility for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

 

Position Summary

The Principal Risk Analyst is responsible for supporting an effective and efficient safety risk management program. The position develops and implements a risk management framework, consults across the line of business to analyze risks and develop mitigation plans. Develops and maintains an asset risk register coordinating with the various asset family owners across the line of business, to track operational and enterprise risks and the execution and effectiveness of risk mitigation activities. Serves as a liaison with the enterprise risk management function ensuring alignment and common understanding of risks. Prepares reporting and analysis for the line of business and the enterprise. Responds to GRC and other regulatory data requests, including the supporting analysis.

 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $132,000
Bay Area Maximum: $226,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $125,000
California Maximum: $215,000
 

 

Job Responsibilities

•    Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for operational/business risk strategy within Electric Operations. 
•    Performs risk assessments on large-scale projects, process, and compliance requirements to improve PG&E’s understanding of risk and to reduce risk exposure.
•    Promotes data-driven decision-making, establishing a culture of risk quantification across the line of business.
•    Works with line of business clients to develop risk-based models to drive appropriate risk mitigation activities and controls.
•    Coordinates between asset family strategists, regulatory, and risk management to drive risk mitigation strategies.
•    Leverages risk information to understand and challenge business decisions.
•    Provides process support, advice, and recommendations to ensure effective risk management practice.
•    Develops and coordinates presentation materials for various levels of management, including Executives and Board.
 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:
•    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
•    Ten years of relevant experience in quantitative analysis, risk management, engineering, operations, maintenance, construction of electric systems or electric generation, also to include three years of experience in managing, coordinating, and performing complex business analysis and regulatory proceedings

 

Desired:
•    Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a risk related discipline
•    Professional Engineer
•    Cross-functional project management skills, strategic planning or utility operations
•    Strong analytical and quantitative skills
•    Experience with data science/analysis
•    Certification in risk management, quality engineering, or safety engineering
•    Extensive knowledge of risk analysis and assessment
•    Knowledge of oil and gas, natural gas and/or electric operations business
•    Strong communication skills for all levels of organization, both verbal and in writing
•    Ability to work across multiple functions and build strong working relationships
•    Ability to facilitate decision-making
•    Ability to synthesize complex issues into easy to understand concepts
•    Ability to influence varying levels of leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams
•    Ability to manage multiple competing priorities to completion
•    Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
