Position Summary

Develops regulatory strategies, advocates for the Company's business needs and serves as the primary point-of-contact with the California Public Utilities Commission leadership and staff. Provides regulatory advice and counsel for the assigned business units and develops and maintains policies and programs to ensure executive leadership awareness of, and effective response to, potential regulatory issues and policies that affect the Company. Ensures that the Company's interests are represented in regulatory proceedings and in the development of new regulatory policies and requirements.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Bay Area Minimum: $151,000
Bay Area Maximum: $257,000
 

 

Job Responsibilities

•    Provides advocacy for Company's position on industry issues, developments or in pending proceedings for straightforward to moderately complex issues pending at the CPUC
•    Collaborates with the Senior Directors, Directors, assigned business units, legal and case management to develop and execute strategies and policies for straightforward to moderately complex regulatory issues prior to, and during, proceedings
•    Utilizes broad knowledge of regulatory environment and Company business issues with an emphasis on CPUC Rules of Practice and Procedure to present strategies
•    Actively keeps department leadership up-to-date about regulatory developments including meeting outcomes, proposed regulations and timing of key regulatory decisions
•    Collaborates with the Senior Director and Directors to provide strategic communications, advice and counsel for assigned proceedings
•    Maintains effective communications and working relationships with internal company contacts, CPUC staff and other external contacts/stakeholders. Actively pursues best practice procedures and policies by networking and benchmarking with external stakeholders
 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:
•    Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
•    8 years job-related experience

 

Desired:
•    Graduate Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
•    Experience in regulatory matters
•    Experience in analysis
•    Experience in communication

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
•    Broad understanding of the utility or energy industry drivers, issues and trends
•    Thorough understanding of Company business issues in assigned proceedings
•    Strong knowledge of the regulatory environment including CPUC Rules of Practice and Procedure
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively deal with internal and external contacts at various levels
•    Solid collaboration and interpersonal skills to effectively negotiate and build relationships among varying stakeholders
•    Good analytical decision making and problem-solving skills
