Position Summary

PG&E is seeking an experienced Principal Program Manager to lead cutover planning and execution for the SAP S/4HANA transformation under the Propel Program. This role will serve as the internal Cutover Lead, partnering in a “two-in-the-box” model with our PwC system integrator counterpart to ensure seamless coordination between technical execution and business readiness for a successful cutover and go-live.


The ideal candidate is an internal PG&E employee with deep knowledge of our system landscape, strong relationships with connected application owners, and hands-on experience with data migration tools and processes. With the first mock cutover cycle scheduled for March 2026, we aim to onboard this leader by January 2026.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

Pay range: $140,000.00 - $207,900.00

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office (OGO) 3 days a week and or based on business needs.


Job Responsibilities

Cutover Planning & Management

  • Develop and maintain the integrated cutover plan, sequencing technical, data, and business activities.
  • Lead mock cutovers, readiness checkpoints, and go-live execution.
  • Manage cutover command center operations during go-live, including issue triage and escalation.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison between PG&E teams and the system integrator for all cutover-related activities.
  • Build strong relationships with connected application owners, infrastructure teams, and business leads.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders and leadership on cutover progress, risks, and readiness.


System Landscape & Integration

  • Understand PG&E’s SAP system landscape and integration points to manage dependencies and downtime windows.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to ensure alignment across environments and transport paths.


Data Migration Oversight

  • Collaborate with data migration teams to ensure accurate data loads, validations, and reconciliations.
  • Support integration of data migration activities into the overall cutover timeline.


Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify and mitigate cutover risks early through proactive planning and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain risk logs, issue trackers, and escalation protocols.


Program & Agile Delivery Support

  • Partner with the system integrator to align cutover with the overall SAP program plan, adhering to Fit-to-Standard and Clean Core principles.
  • Support Agile ceremonies and planning events (PI Planning, retrospectives, backlog refinement, stand-ups).
  • Contribute to testing cycles (SIT, UAT) and ensure alignment with cutover milestones.


Qualifications
Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of relevant IT Project Management experience building and leveraging solutions utilizing SAP Technologies


Desired:

  • 5+ years in ERP cutover management
  • At least 2+ years of experience in SAP S/4HANA transformation programs
  • Strong knowledge of SAP system architecture, environments, and transport management
  • Proven ability to manage complex dependencies across multiple applications and teams
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • PMP certification
  • Experience delivering large-scale SAP programs from a Big 4 or equivalent consulting background
  • Familiarity with SAP Activate, Agile, and hybrid delivery methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with data migration tools (e.g., SAP Migration Cockpit, LSMW) and reconciliation processes
  • Experience working in a global SAP deployment environment
