Department Overview

Our Government Funding Office (GFO) exists to ensure successful government award administration. Government awards include funding mechanisms like loans, grants, and tax incentives at the federal and state level. As part of the GFO, you will collaborate with professionals from finance, major projects, sourcing, environmental, legal, and policy to manage government funded programs that enable California’s prosperity and reduce customer rates. Our team is made up of talented and passionate individuals, including program managers, strategic analysts, compliance reporting specialists, and subject matter experts. Our team’s work shall create prosperity for all customers and investors. This role supports programs that deliver significant financial and operational impact, including large-scale federal funding initiatives across PG&E.

 

Position Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Grants Program Manager, Principal to join our expanding GFO team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and oversight of a large-scale federal and state grant programs, including managing a portfolio of grants valued at over $300 million, and supporting alignment with broader government funding initiatives, including potential coordination and support of the Department of Energy loan.

They will drive and manage the entire grant lifecycle from pre-award planning and application to post-award monitoring and closeout.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business needs or company requirements. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.

 

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

Bay Area Min: $144,000

Bay Area Mid: $194,000

Bay Area Max: $244,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable funding requirements, including reporting, documentation, and audit readiness across grant-funded programs.
  • Develop training for subject matter experts and individual project managers on funding requirements.
  • Identifies and maintains strong working relationships with all strategic programs, co-recipients, and partners.
  • Monitors new federal and state directives, revises standards and procedures, and communicates the changes to team members.
  • Develops KPIs and delivers program goals
  •  Facilitates an environment of psychological safety, respect, excellence, collaboration, and problem solving across program stakeholders.
  • Leads development of program goals and metrics to meet company goals and objectives.
  • Collaborates across PG&E to ensure alignment of goals to support program.
  • Responsible for coordinating with other departments and teams to meet program goals.
  • Collaboratively develops and presents presentations for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Leverages PG&E’s Lean playbook to facilitate effective cross-functional daily, weekly, and monthly Operating Reviews.
  • Facilitates communication among project teams and stakeholders, addressing feedback and concerns, and solving problems that arise.
  • Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrates strategic leadership with internal and external stakeholders to support PG&E’s goals.
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced coworkers.
  • Autonomously prioritizes competing activities and maintain focus on driving key strategic outcomes.
  • Monitors progress against objectives, manages risks, and allocates resources effectively.
  • Ensures all deliverables meet organizational standards and strategic objectives.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of related experience or equivalent

 

Desired

  • Experience managing federal funding, such grants, incentives, and loans for federal and state funded programs.
  • Graduate degree preferred
  • PMP Certification
  • Adept at addressing and solving issues with diplomacy and tact
  • Ability to lead large and complex projects working with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Lean tools to achieve positive outcomes and drive process improvements.
  • Ability to present complex data and findings to internal and external audiences, including executive leaders.
  • Enjoys working on complex multi-stage projects with a diverse team.
  • History of mentoring and teaching others and a desire to continue to do so.
  • Humility, intellectual curiosity, and a growth mindset.
  • Experience bringing ideas to reality in a complex regulatory and business environment.
