Department Overview

The Enterprise Project Governance (EPG) department supports decision-making and leads governance processes for major projects ($25M and greater) and programs across PG&E on behalf of external customers and shareholders. Enterprise Project Governance advises the Gate Review Board (GRB) and the Senior Officer Team (SOT), comprised of company officers and directors, on key considerations associated with major projects and programs, including safety, risk reduction, extent of condition, environmental and community impacts, long-term financial forecasting, and alignment with company objectives. 

 

Enterprise Project Governance plays an integral role in helping PG&E deliver for our hometowns, serve our planet, and lead with love, with a goal of developing a safe, reliable, resilient, de-carbonized and affordable energy system for all customers.

 

Position Summary

This position is Hybrid, meaning the selected employe will need to work in our Oakland-based office 1-3 days a week. 

 

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Analyst to join our dynamic Enterprise Project Governance Team. This team is responsible for overseeing the Gate Review Board Process, Enterprise project and program standards, Reporting, Training and ensuring best practices across the enterprise. 

 

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting the department with:

 

Strategic Planning and Business Management Processes

  • Assisting with the development, coordination, implementation, performance measurement, and continuous improvement of strategic planning and business management processes. Performs analysis on the most complex data models that have cross-functional impact
  • May manage major cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions

 

Budget and Resource Administration

  • Establishes and supports governance, risk, and compliance processes for operational plans and resource administration.
  • Develops and implements benchmarking initiatives and performance measurement processes.
  • Conducts and evaluates various assessments and studies for continuous improvement of processes, resources, and tools.

 

Administration and Communications

  • Creates and executes the agenda process and communications.
  • Composes, designs, and prepares various correspondence, presentations, communications, reports, documents, and other materials.
  • Plans, organizes, and supports various meetings, activities, and communications for Directors and other leaders.
  • Researches, analyzes, and responds to various inquiries and issues and develops recommendations to support decision making actions.
  • Demonstrates strategic leadership with internal stakeholders to support company goals.
  • Presents findings and recommendations to senior leaders to gain agreement.

 

Special Projects and Initiatives

  • May lead or participate within key initiatives for the LOB.
  • May represent the leader at various meetings and/or activities.
  • Works with senior management to support strategic planning and decision making.
  • Manages major cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Develops or provides significant input to PG&E leadership to influence decision making.

 

Position will require minimal travel around PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:

  • Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area)           $140,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (Bay Area)         $189,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)          $238,000.00

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Drives continuous process improvement and manages complex technology and data process improvements and projects.
  • Develops and tracks metrics that provide data for process measurement, business operations or risk assessment and present findings to leadership.
  • Leads multiple complex process improvement projects by carrying out various project tasks such as process mapping, data collection, data analysis, metrics analysis, root cause analysis, documentation.
  • Works on complex problems having broad impact that require in depth analysis and judgment to obtain results or solutions.
  • Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced colleagues.
  • Responsible for backing up leadership team when necessary

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree  or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of related experience or equivalent

 

Desired:

  • PMP Certification
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (LSS)
  • Creative and strategic problem-solving skills to develop new, innovative solutions
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Experience with budget/resource planning and allocation
  • Experience with organizational span of control, roadmaps, benchmarking, metrics, forecasting, and scorecards

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and (Technical) Competencies

    • Advanced project management skills & knowledge of project management theories, concepts, methods, best practices and techniques to lead the largest most complex projects across the line of business supported
    • Competency in developing and delivering clear written and oral communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
    • Strong analytical and writing skills to create compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs
    • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, which includes applying principles, techniques, and procedures to the design and production of technology-based equipment and systems, as needed to perform at the job level
    • Knowledge of electric, gas, and/or PGen operations and business processes as needed to perform at the job level
    • Ability to work independently with limited oversight
