Department Overview

EPD&A Business Operations provides essential provides essential support for Enterprise Protection, Data, and Analytics teams through coordination of the True North Strategy (TNS) and Business Deployment Plan (BPD), Lean stewardship, financial management, and delivery of programs and projects.

  • Purpose
    • Enable the True North Strategy for EPD&A organizations to maximize the effectiveness of available resources and delivery of capabilities.
  • Stands:
    • Coordination of strategy, planning, and execution with other teams, including OCIO, IT, and the enterprise.
    • Stewardship of planning, resources, and delivery enabling prosperity and achievement of the True North Strategy (TNS) and Business Plan Development (BPD).
    • Leadership in Lean functions and processes across EPD&A.

 

Position Summary

This is a challenging and fast paced individual contributor position in PG&E’s EPD&A’s Business Operations organization and is integral for alignment across the various Data teams within EPD&A as well as across IT and Enterprise to provide essential business capabilities. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills, leadership skills, analytical skills and a demonstrated track record and background in LEAN. You will participate in leadership discussions spanning a broad range of topics including financial, operational, personnel, strategic planning, technical, and cross functional collaboration The Principal Program Manager will be responsible to leverage PG&E’s Lean Performance Playbook to organize and operate command centers, Operating Reviews (OR), leveraging visual management and metrics to drive EPD&A’s True North Strategy and Business Plans. The position will report to the Director of EPD&A Business Operations at PG&E. 

 

This role is hybrid, working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office 2-3 days per week currently. Occasionally, your presence to other Bay Area locations may be required.

 

 PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 A reasonable salary range is:​ 

Bay Area Minimum:      $140,000

Bay Area Maximum:     $238,000

 

 

Job Responsibilities

Support the EPD&A org across a multitude of portfolio operations functions associated but not limited to planning for True North Strategy, Business Plan Deployment, financial management, tracking and report out of strategic activities, lean operating reviews, mapping of KPIs and coordination of employee engagement activities

  • Strategy – Act as “front door” for strategy activities and manage updates and delivery against relevant TNS business plans (e.g., TNS Business Plan for the Data Teams)
  • LEAN Stewardship – Lead EPDA teams through the 5 plays of LEAN, execute and operate on Lean processes, including implementing and conducting operating rhythms, tracking KPIs
  • Board of Director (BoD) – Track BoD commitments and organize and contribute to BoD updates
  • Culture / Large Meetings – Facilitate large format meetings, BPD, TNS workshops
  • Guides the overall direction for development of departmental analytics for strategic, operational, and financial planning efforts and serves as key departmental interface for the EPD&A portfolio
  • Coordinates and manages BPD, TNS, Tactical Implementation Plans (TIP), Plan on Page (POP) build outs and tracking, similar planning processes and prioritization (annual, quarterly, PI planning as needed)
  • Coordinates for alignment and integration with OCIO, Enterprise TNS teams, Functional Areas for activities associated with planning, KPIs, Business Plan Development and reporting across the various EPD&A Orgs
  • Financial – Manage team financial planning and actuals, including confirmation and management of chargeback commitments
  • Planning – Interlock plans with broad set of organizations
  • Uses various tools and techniques for estimating costs, building, and tracking KPIs, building leadership presentations associated with EPD&A
  • Ensures timely and effective communication regarding the mapping of initiatives to goals to stakeholders, including presenting information to EPD&A orgs, OCIO, IT and business leaders outlining portfolio specifics
  • Works with senior leadership to develop effective communication and on-going support of EPD&A strategic vision and goals

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Information Technology, project management or related business areas
  • Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of Change Management and Process Improvements
  • Working knowledge of implementing LEAN and process improvements
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, technical, written, verbal communication and facilitation skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to executives
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite of applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively navigate complex organizational, process, technical and political challenges with minimal direction and supervision
  • A demonstrated and proactive ability to help explain necessary trade-offs and balances between immediate and tactical needs or issues with senior executives
  • Extensive knowledge of building and reporting out on metrics and KPIs

 

Desired:

  • Experience in operations in the line of business supported, highly desirable
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively navigate complex organizational, process, technical challenges with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Working knowledge of technology implementations, dependencies, and risks
  • Working knowledge of systems like SAP, PRJ, ARIBA, ATLAS
  • Working knowledge of implementing process improvements
  • Organized, strategically focused, detail oriented, and able to deal with ambiguity in a constantly evolving fast paced environment
  • Highly collaborative, able to work cross-functionally; possessing ability to forge relationships and partner
  • Ability to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Ability to learn new technology and concepts quickly
