AI and digital tools are reshaping how we work, and this role—based within the People Product & Solutions Delivery team—is at the center of that transformation. The People Digital Experience/AI Lead will play a critical role in empowering coworkers, improving service delivery, and ensuring PG&E adopts AI responsibly, safely, and effectively. This position directly contributes to defining the future of work for thousands of employees across the company.

 

Position Summary

We are looking for a forward‑thinking Digital Experience / AI Lead to shape the future of how our workforce engages with digital tools, AI capabilities, and modern employee experiences. In this role, you will lead the People strategy, design, and delivery of AI‑enabled solutions that improve productivity, streamline processes, and elevate the coworker experience across the enterprise.

 

This is a unique opportunity to drive meaningful transformation at scale—bringing together human‑centered design, digital innovation, and responsible AI practices to create intuitive, impactful experiences for our coworkers.

 

This position is classified as a hybrid work type.  The successful candidate should generally plan to work from the Oakland General Office 0-3 days per week, on average.

 

Job Responsibilities

AI Strategy & Enablement

  • Lead the development and execution of the enterprise People AI strategy, including roadmap, adoption plans, and success measures.
  • Identify high‑value AI use cases that improve efficiency, decision‑making, and service delivery.
  • Partner with Legal, Cybersecurity, and Compliance to ensure responsible, safe, and policy‑aligned AI use.

Digital Experience Leadership

  • Design and optimize end‑to‑end digital experiences across People systems, tools, and workflows.
  • Champion user‑centered design principles to ensure solutions are intuitive, accessible, and impactful.
  • Lead discovery, research, and feedback loops to continuously improve coworker digital journeys.

Product Ownership & Delivery

  • Serve as product owner for AI‑enabled tools such as chatbots, Copilot, and digital self‑service solutions.
  • Oversee backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and cross‑functional delivery.
  • Partners with IT, People Operations, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless implementation.

Change Leadership & Adoption

  • Develop and execute adoption strategies, including communications, training, and enablement materials.
  • Build AI literacy across the organization through education, demos, and hands‑on support.
  • Act as a visible champion for digital transformation and modern ways of working.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Economics, Business Administration or job-related discipline  
  • 10 years of equivalent experience

 

Desired:

  • Experience leading digital transformation, AI initiatives, or modern workplace solutions.
  • Strong understanding of AI tools (e.g., Microsoft 365 Copilot, chatbots, automation platforms) and their practical applications.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technology into simple, meaningful user experiences.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • A passion for innovation, problem‑solving, and elevating the coworker experience.
  • Experience in product management, UX, digital strategy, or related fields is a plus.

 

Compensation

PG&E provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum: $132,000.00 

Bay Area Midpoint: $179,000.00   

Bay Area Maximum: $226,000.00
