Department Overview

The Transmission Electric Asset Management Department is responsible for initiating and planning PG&E’s capital, expense, and maintenance plans for electric transmission lines. Our goal is to ensure safe, reliable, and affordable service for our customers.


In addition to planning and asset management, our department explores new technologies and strategic solutions to support grid capacity increases, enhance asset health, and achieve PG&E’s decarbonization and electrification goals.
 

Position Summary

Responsible for leading the integration, strategic planning, and change management of new technologies into PG&E's transmission system and investment processes. This role informs the company's strategic positions, influences policy, and proposes process improvements to integrate new technologies such as HTLS, GET, monitoring, and other O&M practices. These efforts aim to build PG&E's future grid, providing safe, reliable, and affordable clean energy to our customers.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. 


PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $151,000
Bay Area Maximum: $257,000
 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with utilities, manufacturers, engineering, IT, and standards departments to advance new technology applications such as HTLS, GET, monitoring, and other O&M practices.
  • Understand the various data streams required for technology integration.
  • Meet with stakeholders to understand their issues and inform them of the potential impact of technology.
  • Explore, innovate, and demonstrate technologies that enhance the transmission grid.
  • Identify areas where new technology can provide greater benefits to customers and the transmission grid.
  • Represent PG&E as a technical expert in integrating new resources and technologies onto the electric grid in regulatory proceedings, data requests, benchmarking, and industry working groups.
  • Collaborate with the Standards Department to identify, develop, and implement new standards and guidelines that facilitate technology integration while minimizing potential grid impacts. 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with grid modeling software (e.g. CYMDIST, PSLF, Aspen, etc.)
  • 10 years of electric utility related experience

 

Desired:

  • Experience with data analysis (Excel, Foundry, Power Bi and other data management suites)
  • Experience with the transmission line system, including but not limited to design, asset maintenance, performance, and technology.
  • Financial modeling for Costs Benefit Analysis
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Masters Degree in Engineering-Electrical Engineering. Power Systems or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in asset management
  • Experience in Engineering,
  • Experience in Transmission and Distribution Operations or related
  • Experience with data analysis tools
  • PE-Professional Engineer license, California
