Department Overview
The Enterprise Lean Office is responsible for the implementation of Lean across PG&E. This is accomplished by training, coaching, KPI development and tracking, problem solving, use of standards of performance and eliminating waste.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for facilitating the delivery of PG&E’s highest priority programs through process improvement, problem solving and managing key organizational relationships. In this role the candidate will drive performance management related to Enterprise and cross-company metrics through successful implementation of program and initiative objectives. This position will engage directly with Line of Business Management and in the day-to-day business to improve performance.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location 2-3 days a week based on business needs
Work location will be in Oakland reporting to the Oakland General Office. Some travel will be required across the PG&E territory based on business needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $136,000
Bay Area Maximum: $232,000
Job Responsibilities
Lean Maturity Program Management
- Program manage the administration, data gathering and reporting of the lean maturity assessment
- Facilitate the redesign of the lean maturity assessment with support from subject matter experts
- Create the communication and change management plan for lean maturity
- Coach functional area leads and chiefs of staff on a frequent basis to create stable and capable lean maturity plans for their organizations
Lean Coach
- Coach functional area leadership to create stable and capable lean maturity plans for their organizations
- Coach stakeholders on PG&E Lean 5 Plays: operating reviews (daily, weekly, monthly), lean visual management, problem solving practices, standard work and waste elimination
- Facilitate trainings and workshops to build lean capabilities and drive towards waste elimination solutions
- Work on complex problems that require in-depth analysis and collaboration to drive business results and solutions.
- Drive waste elimination outcomes by identifying and categorizing waste, using A3 thinking, process mapping, value stream mapping and calculating financial savings
- Lead ideation workshops that identify area for continuous improvement/waste elimination and develop initiative solutions.
- Act as a thought leader, applying extensive unique process improvement expertise in the development of strategy or resolution of complex issues.
- Mentor other process improvement staff in the development of subject matter expertise, growing knowledge in practice areas, relationship development, and strategy for resolution of complex issues
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, human resources, change management, communications, organization development, or related field
- 10 years of relevant experience in the areas of Lean, organization change, program/project management, and/or operations management
Desired:
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage mid-level management relationships within complex environments.
- Experience leading a large scale, cross functional lean initiative that delivered significant process improvement and financial savings
- Ability to lead engagements that deliver complex strategy projects and initiatives with measurable results working across organizational boundaries and interfacing with senior executives.
- Demonstrated ability to coach mid-level leaders on making fact-based and / or data-led decisions. As well as problem solve without bias or predetermined solutions.
- Well versed in a breadth and depth of multiple process improvement methods, such as Lean Manufacturing, Lean for the Office, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, Agile, etc.
- Process Management Certification (Lean, Lean Six-Sigma, Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent), Change Management Certification (expert level), and/or Project Management Certification (expert level)
- Ability to work within deadlines and be flexible with changing priorities.
- Strong communication skills – both written and verbal – with the ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical team members, as well as executive through field level positions within the company.
- Knowledge of business finance processes and how to quantify savings in appropriate categories (capital vs. expense)
- Expert level skills in the use of analytical tools such as Excel
