Department Overview

 

The coworkers of the Service Planning and Design organization (SP&D) support the business vision by delivering customers safe, reliable, and affordable electric and gas services in compliance with all applicable regulatory and internal requirements through the New Business Process. SP&D stands are to deliver new gas and electric service when customers want us to and we provide an amazing experience to all our customers. SP&D supports both gas and electric operations through its customer project management, design and estimating, dependency, construction, and clerical functions.

 

Position Summary

 

The Principal Program Manager will manage the Estimating training program within the Strategy & Operations Support Organization. Leading change management with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring the training roadmap is fully implemented and operational. High level responsibilities include some or most of the following:
•    Developing, measuring, and reporting on the success of the program.
•    Ensuring the goals of the program are met by identifying and partnering with Subject Matter Experts to develop and implement strategies.
•    Identifying and maintaining strong working relationships with all strategic programs and partners.
•    Managing relationships with and providing direction to coworkers and contractors.
•    Identifying stakeholders and communicating within and outside of PG&E.
•    Developing and implementing policies and procedures.
•    Identifying new partners, technologies, and delivery channels.
•    Partner with Regulatory and Compliance staff to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and support regulatory activities by supplying information for filings, data requests, and meetings with regulators.
•    Developing and monitoring budgets and forecasts.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company, in good faith, believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate that the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis, taking into account these factors.
 

A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $140,000
Bay Area Mid-Point: $189,000
Bay Area Maximum: $238,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $133,000
California Mid-Point: $180,000
California Maximum: $226,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to report to their assigned office location at least one day per week. The remaining days may be worked remotely, depending on business needs. The headquarters location is in Oakland, CA (OGO).

 

The position will require up to 20% of the work schedule to be spent traveling.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Leads the Estimating training and skill building program.
•    Work in conjunction with various functional partners in support of the estimator training program and initiatives.
•    Works with Senior Management on strategic planning and decision making for the Estimating training program.
•    Collaborates and mentors other Program Managers within the team.
•    Solves unique and complex problems for department and/or line of business that have company-wide impact and risk, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions.
•    Provides support and guidance in the development of Guidance Documents and Estimating promotional exams.
•    Supports effective roll outs of process and system improvements through communication, coordinate and deliver training for the estimating program, and drive development of new resources and tools.
•    Influence decisions, providing recommendations for change that will lead to the success of the estimating training program and cost effectiveness.
•    Support organization as a subject matter expert by providing information and direction to resources through various delivery channels.
•    Solves unique and complex problems, anticipating issues and developing innovative solutions.
•    Demonstrates strategic leadership with internal stakeholders to support Company goals.
•    Collaborates across the organization to ensure alignment of goals to support the program.  

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

•    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.      
•    Ten years of related experience or equivalent

 

Desired:

 

  • 4 years of Estimating/Engineering experience.
  • Master’s degree.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Ability to understand the business to help drive strategic decision-making and recommend operational improvements.
  • Ability to lead large and complex projects working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead the most significant, most complex projects across the line of business supported (i.e., Customer Care, Human Resources, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with demanding time constraints
  • Able to present research findings and make recommendations to stakeholders
  • Ability to create compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs.
  • Effectively communicates information for the purpose of having others learn, understand, and apply specific principles, techniques, or information.
  • Identifies process problems and opportunities for improvement and simplification, and takes action to control and improve processes.
  • Knowledgeable about key issues and trends, including emerging best practices and technology
  • Deep knowledge and expertise of business and or industry drivers.
  • Develops and maintains work relationships, demonstrates skill in achieving cooperation from others
  • Adept at addressing issues with diplomacy and tact.
