Department Overview
Power Generation department operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation, and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 900 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and more than 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E’s successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.
PG&E is undergoing an enterprise-wide transformational business process and technology modernization program called “Propel”, and Power Generation will be the first department to deploy. The Power Generation “Propel” team seeks to unlock customer value by simplifying the way we work together across Engineering, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Information Technology. We are a diverse, interdisciplinary group of subject matter experts, matrixed between Power Generation and Enterprise Business Processes Departments, with deep functional and industry expertise supporting the company’s fleet of power generation systems located throughout Northern California. Position Summary
The Power Generation Materials Program Manager will develop and lead a strategy for Power Generation’s materials management and inventory-to-deliver process. This includes activities such as:
- Lead a Power Generation materials management evaluation, strategy development, and program design
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including asset management, work management, materials, and sourcing teams to identify business needs
- Engage with PG&E’s “Propel” business and technology modernization program to identify materials management opportunities and integration; including matching business requirements to SAP capabilities
- Evaluate materials management current state, and identify opportunities for improvement accordance with company standards and industry best practices
- Lead development of the business case and stakeholder alignment for the recommended Power Generation materials program
- Lead implementation of the materials program, including recommended staffing strategy and change management
This position is flexible within Auburn, Oakland, and Redding. Headquarters will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and assigned location, subject to change per business needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $ 140,000.00
Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $ 207,900.00
OR
Minimum Base Salary (California) $ 133,000.00
Maximum Base Salary (California) $ 198,000.00

- Travel may be required.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years of related experience or equivalent
Desired:
- SAP materials management experience
- Training, certifications, and/or experience related to supply chain and inventory management
- Program design and implementation experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial engineering, industrial technology, supply chain management, or related fields
- Project Management Professional Certification
- Ability to use understanding of the business to help drive strategic decision making, and to recommend operational improvements.
- Deep knowledge and expertise of business and or industry drivers.
- Ability to lead large and complex projects working with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to create compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs.
- Adept at addressing issues with diplomacy and tact.
