Department Overview
The work performed by the Corporate Security Department (CSD) is key to the company’s success in protecting employees, the contract workforce, the public, and the company’s physical assets, including several which are critical to the nation’s power grid infrastructure. The CSD provides a variety of opportunities, including involvement in developing, communicating and implementing processes and tools relating to investigations, formal communications with company officers, personnel development, and coordination of the company’s physical security efforts. Importance is placed on developing close partnerships with other Functional Organizations and law enforcement, to ensure quick response and appropriate communication of issues and mitigation plans.
The Personal Security Advisor works closely with Corporate Security Management to provide security for the CEO and Senior Executive Officers as needed. The Personal Security Advisor will also work closely with other Corporate Security personnel during special events to help provide physical security and to conduct advance security assessments of future venues.
Position Summary
The Personal Security Advisor is a highly trained professional responsible for the safeguarding of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other Senior Officers by conducting security advances, threat assessments, planning secure routes, providing close physical protection and responding to potential security threats. The actions of keeping the CEO and other coworkers safe from harm are performed while maintaining a discreet presence to minimize disruption to the CEO and other Senior Officers. This is a full-time, hourly position requiring approximately 40 hours per week. The role necessitates travel outside the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout the State of California, as well as international travel, comprising at least 50% of the time.
PG&E is providing the hourly range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This hourly range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $50.48 to $72.45.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform protection functions, including safe driving, security advances, executive safety/security, proactive intelligence collection on site/office security, and residential security/safety evaluations.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels, while actively coordinating activities and maintaining open communication with the Corporate Security Management team and other business units.
- Conduct threat investigations that involve the executive security program and related responsibilities.
- Continuously maintain and enhance proficiency in all aspects of the executive security program, including secure driving techniques, conducting security advances, providing protection, utilizing de-escalation tactics, firearms proficiency, medical training, site security assessments, and the latest security technologies.
- Remain available for executive security 24/7, including immediate response to the security/safety needs of the executive and his or her family members.
- Participate in the planning and coordination of travel (business or pleasure) involving the executive and his or her family members to provide security/safety recommendations and related security mitigations.
- Travel outside the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout the State of California, as well as international travel, comprising at least 50% of the time
- Work effectively within a team environment to support coordinated security efforts and foster collaborative problem-solving.
- Complete related staff assignments, research projects, presentations, event security, and security vulnerability assessments and plans.
- Assist in the planning of major events involving the executives from a security perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Security Supervisor, Manager and Director.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
- 5 years of prior law enforcement or private security experience conducting executive protection experience
- CCW-Concealed Carry Weapon license, California
- CA Class C License, or equivalent
Desired:
- 7 years of prior law enforcement or private security experience conducting executive protection
- BA/BS degree in Criminology, Police Science, Criminal Justice Administration
- Executive protection experience gained through corporate security, law enforcement, or military service
- Executive Protection Accreditation from a local, state or national school
- Corporate/private family office executive protection experience
