Department Overview

The Electric & Gas Performance & Process Improvement (EGPPI) team provides Operational Excellence leadership and capability building to drive performance and process improvement through disciplined Lean and process-based Continuous Improvement (CI) approaches.  EGPPI collaborates with PG&E’s Functional Areas (FAs) to drive the company’s Lean and Process Architecture strategy, achieve business performance goals, and provide project leadership and coaching while ensuring a disciplined, data-driven approach to problem-solving.

 

Position Summary

The Strategic Analyst partners with FA leadership and coworkers to develop and implement Operational Excellence strategies focused on accelerating lean and continuous improvement adoption and capability building.  The strategies will deliver on waste elimination and solving the most critical business problems aligned to the company’s Purpose, Virtues, and Stands.  The position requires a blend of strategic planning, project management, and leadership skills that will lead to delivering on value to customers through optimized processes, empowered coworkers, and effective use of technology including:   

  • Develop and Support programs and initiatives incorporating understanding of customer needs, industry direction, business impacts and company vision. 
  • Work with utility industry peers and/or internal departments to influence the company efforts around current and future priorities and future business needs. 
  • Influence FAs considering inputs from customer research, business impacts and PG&E strategies and priorities.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Bay Area preferred). 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

Bay Minimum: $136,000
Bay Maximum: $232,000

 

&/OR

 

CA Minimum: $129,000
CA Maximum: $220,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Lead program management and project analysis and evaluation, applying change management principles, and utilizing appropriate Operational Excellence methodologies and tools to achieve and sustain desired results.
  • Undertakes assignments of the highest complexity and impact to PG&E. 
  • Coaches, mentors and trains others in strategy development and implementation of Lean and continuous improvement tools and practices. 
  • Evaluates and develops new analytic methods and tools, processes, procedures for the department. 
  • Solves unique and complex strategic issues and problems. 
  • Manage major cross-functional projects and initiatives. 
  • Works with all levels of leadership (up to and including EVP) across functions to influence decisions. 
  • Anticipates issues and develops innovative solutions. 
  • Continually applies and guides others to apply understanding of company goals and strategies. 
  • Collaborates and influences program strategy for internal business partners and the department. 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Sociology, Policy, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience.
  • Job-related experience, 8 years

 

Desired:

 

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Engineering or other related fields or equivalent work experience.
  • 15 years of job-related experience.
  • Direct experience leading and/or providing senior leader level guidance on Business Process Management (BPM), Process Improvement, Strategy Execution, Program and Project Management (PPM) and overall business operations
  • Thorough knowledge of and proficiency with Windows based PC systems and Microsoft Word, Excel (including pivot tables), Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio, Adobe Acrobat, project management software, PowerBI, and PowerApps 
  • Ability to lead department wide modeling and data initiatives of the highest complexity and impact.
  • Ability to present highly complex data and findings to diverse audiences which may include upper management, industry and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Ability to use understanding of the business to help drive strategic decision making, and to recommend operational improvements.
  • Deep knowledge and expertise of business and or industry drivers and development processes
  • Ability to analyze business processes and recommend improvements to gain efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ability to lead and implement key process improvements.
  • Ability to integrate statistical analysis into decision making.
