Department Overview

The System Performance, Reliability and Resiliency Strategy team within the overall Electric Transmission and Distribution Engineering organization is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the resources necessary to successfully execute PG&E’s Electric Reliability Strategy and initiatives. This team of forward–thinking individuals is tasked with deploying the technology and infrastructure to achieve the company’s reliability goals. The team is responsible for implementing programs required to modernize the electric grid allowing for safe, resilient and efficient operations.

 

Position Summary

Extracts operations data for analysis, leadership support and responses to ad hoc data requests. Maintains operations tools & databases to ensure that it is kept up-to-date. Develops, maintains and enhances operational metric database tools for the broader analytics teams. Identifies and solves current gaps in data requirements and ease of access to ensure fast and consistent responses to leadership inquiries. Synthesizes insights from large, complex datasets—often across multiple systems—to support strategic decision-making, including operational planning, budget forecasting, and executive-level reporting.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. Bay Area preferred. In office (Dublin or Oakland) 2-3 days a week.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

Bay Minimum: $140,000
Bay Maximum: $238,000

 

&/OR

 

CA Minimum: $133,000
CA Maximum: $226,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Manages very complex data analysis projects with very limited supervision from initial request to presenting data results ensuring that the project is completed within budget and on-time.
  • Acts as a thought leader applying extensive data processing and data analysis expertise through advanced analytics platforms (e.g., Palantir Foundry or similar data integration environments) in the development of strategy or resolution to complex data issues. Creates very complex automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.
  • Manages major and complex cross functional data projects that have broad company implications.
  • Supports operational and strategic planning through data-driven budget development, forecasting, and variance analysis to inform leadership decisions.
  • Manages extracting data and transferring the data from databases to various analysts to support operational analysis efforts.
  • Analyzes data using various advanced statistical tools to develop complex ad hoc reports, statistics,  trends and profiles.
  • Develops and synthesizes complex and disparate datasets into clear, executive-ready insights, comprehensive reports and analysis for long-term, company-wide issues. Presents/communicates clear, concise and actionable data analyses identifying trends, risks, and opportunities across operational, financial, and performance dimensions for clients.
  • Exhibits leadership and executive level communication capability, effectively influencing outcomes through data driven insights.
  • Serves as a role model for analytical rigor, professional judgment, and executive level communication.
  • May work with Senior Management to develop business related strategy, leveraging data in decision making.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Job-related experience, 8 years

 

Desired:

 

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with utility operations
  • Familiarity with SAP
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel/Access (complex formulas, graphing, VBA)
  • Advanced skill in writing SQL queries using Oracle or Business Objects
  • Strong knowledge of base-SAS and programming language such as Visual Basic, Perl, C
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills. Advanced communication and presentation skills to deliver highly complex data and findings to Sr. Management.
  • Expertise in project management to lead large, cross functional projects and develop concise data findings for Sr. Management.
