Position Summary

The Multicultural Communications Intern will play a role in enhancing public information, community engagement, and brand awareness for Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). This Multicultural Communications intern will support PG&E’s Integrated Multicultural Communications (IMC) team with various communications across the multicultural landscape, with primary focus on amplifying customer messaging on social media platforms. The intern will help design strategy, create content, launch and lead a pilot social media campaign on Facebook and WeChat. This intern will research and engage with influencers, and engage with social posts and articles in Spanish and/or Chinese.

Travel requirement: 20% travel within PG&E service area

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $19.56 to $34.07

 

Responsibilities

  • Integrated Communications: This intern will be assigned to the Integrated Multicultural Communications (IMC) team to support various initiatives aimed at driving engagement and increasing information accessibility across multiple channels including paid media, earned media, social media and community engagement.
  • Paid Media: Providing support to IMC’s paid media campaigns on wildfire safety and awareness, general gas and electric safety initiatives in diverse communities.
  • Earn Media: Supporting the documentation of in-language media coverage report.
  • Social Media: This includes designing and creating a pilot social media campaign to amplify PG&E’s messages and foster positive relationships with the Latinx and Chinese communities.
  • Content Creation: Assist in the creation of an editorial calendar with compelling content, including graphics, videos, infographics, and various other forms of media to convey key messages to help promote PG&E’s activities, services, and programs to the diverse communities.
  • Community Engagement: Supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of community events hosted by PG&E’s Integrated Multicultural Communications Team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications at an accredited University
  • Must be continuing their education towards degree during and/or after the internship
  • Must read and write one of the following languages: Spanish or Chinese

Desired:

  • Junior or Senior standing with a passion for communications and outreach among Limited English Proficiency (LEP) communities
  • Written and verbal communication skills, such as writing copy and tailoring messages for diverse audiences.
  • Creativity in content creation, with experience in graphic design, photography, or videography
  • Familiarity with social media platforms which are popular in the Latinx and Chinese communities
  • The ideal candidate will possess a combination of willingness to learn and relevant skills to contribute to our integrated multicultural communications initiatives
