Organization Overview
The mission of the Marketing and Communications department is to design and execute strategies and programs that help PG&E earn the trust and support of customers, employees and other stakeholders. The department develops, executes and oversees a broad spectrum of strategic communications initiatives, provides communications counsel and support to all lines of business, and manages the corporate brand and advertising program for PG&E.
Position Summary
This position will support the Marketing and Communications workgroup that oversees internal and external communications for several Organizations, including:
- Engineering, Planning and Strategy
- Utility Partnerships and Innovation
- Grid Research, Innovation and Development
- Gas R&D
- Clean Energy Transportation
- Load Management Solutions
- Wildfire and Emergency Response
These departments are responsible for a wide range of critical activities that support the future of grid operations: distributed energy resource proliferation and orchestration (solar, microgrids, battery energy storage, electric vehicles), grid-enhancing technologies (artificial intelligence, sensors, grid management solutions) wildfire mitigation technology, drones, vehicle-grid-integration, undergrounding technologies, electrification solutions and greening the gas system, among others. Working with the Marketing and Communications team, this candidate will help deliver communications that drive awareness, engagement and satisfaction with a variety of programs and efforts that reflect PG&E’s leadership in advancing new technologies and the clean energy transition. Through this internship, the candidate will gain experience working with several internal stakeholders at several levels in the company.
Specific activities include:
- Supporting the planning, development and execution of strategic communications campaigns around PG&E's stand to deliver clean and resilient energy for all, with an emphasis on showcasing emerging technologies, R&D solutions, and partnerships.
- Content Creation and Coordination: supporting the ideation, editing and review process for press releases, blog posts, talking points, scripts, videos, social media content and other key documents supporting external releases, thought leadership pieces and blog posts promoting recent accomplishments.
- Media Relations: managing media lists, pitching media, coordinating interviews, liaising with PR agency on campaign management
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $19.91 to $26.02.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates will be working towards a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Policy or related field
- Must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after internship
Desired
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Sense of initiative and teamwork, especially in a matrixed environment.
- Customer service background
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite
- Comfortable with Mobile/Social Media platforms
- Experience creating and editing video content
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple, high-priority projects, meet deadlines, and work within stated budgets.
- Experience working with third parties such as agencies, printers, etc.
- Proven ability to effectively resolve issues/problems.
- Solid decision-making skills and sound judgment.
- Strong desire to take initiative and ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
