The Information Technology (IT) organization designs, develops, operates, and maintains the technology and telecommunications systems that enable PG&E to meet its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and affordable service to customers.

 

IT partners with the business by increasing capabilities through the development of additional functionality, implementing new technologies, reducing costs, increasing productivity, and facilitating organizational and business effectiveness through enabling technologies.

 

Position Summary

 

This is an exciting time within PG&E IT as we are amid a 10-year True North strategy to modernize all our major systems. To support the transformational change of the True North Strategy, we are hiring for a Manager, IT Project Management Office.

 

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office 2-3 times weekly or as business needs require.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum:        $​144,000

Bay Area Maximum:       $​244,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure the establishment of clear measurable individual and team objectives that are aligned with business and organizational goals.
  • Manages a staff of employees responsible for program management, governance, performance reporting, compliance, resource planning and/or other IT planning functions.
  • Support the lifecycle of a large portfolio of complex programs, leading project-level planning, optimizing standards, identifying areas for improvement, delivery, and communication management.
  • Manages and accountable for the successful implementation of complex and highly visible, high impact PMO initiatives that impact all IT processes.
  • Leads the effort in creative approaches to problem solving and quality deliverables supporting business needs.
  • Accountable for negotiating conflicts and ensuring identified issues are resolved through ability to influence.
  • Provides leadership and motivation to team members. Ensures staff has the resources and skills needed to support all projects.
  • Ensures compliance to Standards/regulations and governance processes. Supports the establishment of governance processes that are continually improving, that closely match the culture and decision-making processes of the organization, and that seamlessly link to overall operational management processes
  • Acts as chair for the IT project governance gate review committee that provides oversight for the gate review process.
  • Supports company-wide training and communication of IT project methodology governance processes.
  • Portfolio and project governance: Ensure the department’s portfolio of client projects is properly assigned to the governance analysts and that the governance analysts are properly preparing the gate review materials in advance of IT Integrated Governance meetings.
  •  Coordinate with the governance analysts the gate reviews of projects that support our client organizations as well as IT operations and security projects; ensure all IT reviews are completed by IT architecture, security, operations, sourcing, change management and finance.
  • Standardization of program management practices, governance, procedures, and policies.
  • Ensures processes and tools are in place to fulfill IT organization's responsibility to effectively monitor and measure performance.
  • Works with IT and enterprise leadership to establish key performance metrics for IT; works with IT line functions to develop departmental metrics.
  • Maintains monthly metrics dashboards and reports aligned with enterprise, CIO, and IT organization requirements.
  • Work directly with IT leaders, executives, planning analysts, resource managers and portfolio team leads to ensure coordination and availability of data and resources for successful completion and support of all IT work.

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • B.A./B.S. degree in Business, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience in related field
  • 5 years leading successful direct reports and/or matrix program management teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Desired License/ Certification:

 

  • PMP or other project management certification
  • Agile/SAFe Certifications
  • Experience with Planisware
