Department Overview
PG&E’s Load Management Solutions department is responsible for designing, implementing and administering customer demand side management programs, including energy efficiency, transportation electrification, distributed generation, demand response, and customer resiliency that help PG&E customers manage their energy use, maintain power during outage events, and support the state’s goals for greenhouse gas reduction.
Team Overview
Help us change the electric utility industry from the inside! Join a small, high-performing team within PG&E that is working on a portfolio of exciting and innovative programs and microgrid projects to create a more resilient and smarter grid. The Microgrid Strategy and Implementation (MS&I) team is responsible for leading all aspects (strategy, policy, regulatory, programs, design and engineering, and project development) of multi-customer microgrids for PG&E. The newly created Microgrid Design and Delivery (MD&D) team within MS&I will lead design, engineering and project development for PG&E’s portfolio of distribution-sited microgrids.
Position Summary
The MS&I team and the newly formed MD&D sub-team function as a highly cohesive meritocracy where everyone’s contributions are equally valued without regard to titles. Our team culture is our greatest asset. Team members are empowered to take ownership, innovate and make decisions. The most sacred responsibility of the MD&D manager will be to preserve and enhance our team culture and cohesion. The ideal candidate will be someone that prefers to ask questions over giving commands. One who believes in the wisdom gained through collaboration. Someone who leads from behind and celebrates teammates in moments of success but is also willing to step to the front and take ownership in more challenging moments.
Moving beyond team culture, the Manager of the MD&D team will guide a team of highly experienced engineers and project managers in the end-to-end delivery of microgrid projects. The successful candidate will leverage their electrical engineering and/or project management expertise to usher complex and cutting-edge projects through project conceptualization, engineering, and development. They will also play a lead role in the Microgrid Technical Working Group, a matrixed team of subject matter experts from across PG&E focused on innovation and maturation of microgrids and resiliency at PG&E.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
