Department Overview

PG&E's Business Finance & Planning team provides critical financial support to its operational Business Partners within the company.  This support includes: financial analysis; budgeting, planning and forecasting; monitoring, controlling and accounting; operational performance reporting and analysis; and strategic planning and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company's strategic, operational and financial objectives.

Position Summary

The Business Finance & Planning Manager will be responsible for building and leading the Field Finance Partner Organization (FFP). The FFP Organization is a novel group within Business Finance & Planning with the goal of providing support to our front-line co-workers. This manager will play a pivotal role in assembling a high-performing team, selecting and developing talent to ensure the organization’s success. In addition, they will be tasked with shaping the strategic vision for the FFP, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. This manager role will have the opportunity to build a team to serve as a center of excellence to standardize our tools and programs & define how finance partners with our workforce.   

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA office approximately 1 - 3 days per week, or more, based on business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

 

Bay Area: $136,000 - 202,400

 

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Senior Director, Business Finance Gas Ops, Engineering & Strategy 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Provide leadership and guidance at all levels of financial activity within the organization and its programs, including:
    • Reporting: Provide timely and accurate financial visibility that objectively assesses performance.
    • Planning: Guide and lead the team in developing the organization’s long-term plans. 
  • Develop standards and serve as the Cost Performance Center of Excellence for our programs.
  • Own and analyze data to support recommendations, and drive resolution for individual intern projects.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify investment requirements and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Partner with operational leadership and frontline associates to identify, develop, and implement process improvements within the supply chain process.
  • Design and maintain insightful reporting to drive action among business partners.
  • Interpret and communicate results on projects and standard work to Finance, Operations, and other department leaders.
  • Coach team members and provide timely and constructive feedback on individual performance, including employee goals and development plans.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, engineering, quantitative or related field of study, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years in financial planning, analysis, forecasting, and budgeting or related experience 
  • Experience leading and developing teams

 

Desired:

 

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • CPA and/or CFA
  • 8 years of relevant experience, including 2 years leading a team
  • Working knowledge of SAP R3, SAP BW
  • Ability to execute tactically as well as depict the whole idea / strategic analysis
  • Exceptional time management skills to deal with tight deadlines
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Successful track record of working collaboratively with teams
  • Understanding of Utility Accounting fundamentals and the PG&E cost model to consult on program issues
