Department Overview

The Labor Relations Department provides strategic guidance and support to leaders across PG&E in managing a union-represented workforce. The department partners with the business on collective bargaining negotiations, contract interpretation, grievance administration, represented-coworker matters, and productive Company-union relationships. More than 17,000 PG&E coworkers are represented by three labor unions.

Position Summary

This position serves as a primary resource for the Labor Relations Helpline, providing timely, practical support to leaders on routine labor contract administration matters. The role interprets established contract language, precedent, job aids, and processes to deliver consistent guidance; develops and maintains contractual resources and training; and assists with represented-coworker pay, benefits, leave, testing, reinstatement, and employment-related questions. The position also conducts comprehensive intake, documents relevant facts, resolves matters within scope and coordinates effective hand-offs to Labor Relations Partners or other specialized teams when issues require investigation, negotiation, exception review, or additional expertise.

The role is hybrid primarily working from your remote office and may occasionally attend in-person meeting or assigned work from a PG&E office located within the service territory. The HQ will be agreed upon between the hiring leader and the successful candidate.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, routine guidance to leaders on labor contract administration using established contract language, letters of agreement, precedent-setting decisions, job aids, and other approved resources.
  • Respond to Labor Relations Helpline inquiries, clarify leader needs, research applicable resources, and communicate practical next steps within the role’s scope.
  • Create, update, and maintain contractual job aids, reference materials, standard documentation, and training content to support consistent contract administration.
  • Provide guidance on probationary releases, represented-coworker testing requirements, and other routine employment matters governed by collective bargaining agreements or established processes.
  • Support represented-coworker pay and employment matters, including wage and premium validation, recruiting wage placement, bid lists, performance record requests, payroll coordination, DOT return-to-work matters, and reinstatement requests.
  • Assist with benefits, personal leave of absence, vacation sale, and related questions by reviewing applicable requirements and coordinating with the appropriate teams.
  • Conduct thorough intake by gathering and documenting relevant facts, actions taken, supporting records, and the requested outcome so leaders do not need to repeat information following referral.
  • Resolve routine matters within established guidelines and coordinate timely, effective hand-offs to the assigned Labor Relations Partner, Labor Center of Excellence, or other specialized team.
  • Create and route tickets for investigation requests, facilitate warm hand-offs for negotiation requests, and coordinate referrals for matters requiring union engagement or formal Labor Relations action.
  • Recognize and escalate matters involving ambiguity, complexity, contractual risk, exceptions, precedent-setting considerations, or other circumstances requiring additional expertise or judgment.
