IT Vegetation Management team is responsible for collaboratively working with the Vegetation Management organization to implement solutions that make our communities, customers and employees safer.

 

Position Summary

The Expert, IT Project Manager leads a team that develops new applications, designs and installs new IT technical architecture and infrastructure systems, or enhances existing systems. Assembles the project team, works with vendors and utilizes the provided cost and scheduling tools to define the scope, budget, and resource needs, and controlling other project variables. Functions as a liaison between IT and the Business Client. Acts as the go-to person that represents the entire project from the planning through to the deployment stage.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $144,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $213,400.00

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrating advanced knowledge and technical competence in the technologies that PG&E is implementing
  • Accurately and consistently forecasting project resource, material and contract costs within a standard PG&E tool(s)
  • Actions and recommendations impact achievement of department goals
  • Acts as lead on IT cross-functional projects/initiatives
  • Assessing project performance and implementing changes as necessary to ensure the projects remains within specified cost, schedule, scope and quality objectives
  • Clearly defining and communicating roles, responsibilities and expectations for all members of the project team
  • Communicating individual project roles and expectations
  • Communicating status of all projects to stakeholders and management
  • Conducting and site visits as necessary
  • Conducting project kick-off meetings
  • Consistently demonstrates advanced knowledge and technical competence
  • Coordinating any required contract work within defined PG&E policy
  • Developing and maintaining a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors and key clients
  • Developing and maintaining up-to-date detailed project schedules and work plans
  • Developing metrics, procedures, objectives and methods to assess project progress while using established standards and quality objectives
  • Driving all project related tasks to completion
  • Ensuring all project team members have the tools and training necessary to perform effectively
  • Exercising independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with moderate scope and complexity
  • Functioning in a process-oriented environment
  • Gathering, defining and documenting project requirements
  • Independently planning all associated work to meet project goals
  • May act as a team lead and/or coach to developing employees
  • Monitoring critical project milestones, and identifying ways to resolve schedule issues
  • Obtaining and defining staffing requirements and forming project teams
  • Often serves as a technical coach, trainer, or mentor for others.
  • Preparing all project documentation for closure, storage, and possible auditing activities, ensuring technical accuracy
  • Identify and communicate lessons learned and best practices
  • Providing direction and leadership to project management analysts and schedulers
  • Recognized as “go to” expert among peers.
  • Recording, tracking and communicating issues, risks, changes, and status reports within a PG&E standard tool
  • Resolving problems of project specific scope within procedural guidelines
  • Responsible for leading one or more projects typically between $100,000 - $30,000,000
  • Responsible for the concurrent management of one or more complex projects. These projects are one-time, multitask jobs that have clearly defined start and end dates, a specific scope of work, a budget, required resources, and a specified performance objective to be achieved.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in project management, 8 years
  • Experience in IT-Information Technology professional service agreements
  • PMP-Project Management Professional certification


Desired:

  • Graduate Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Leadership experience, job-related
  • Experience in PMO-Program Management Office development
  • Experience as Project Manager, high complexity
  • Experience in SAFe Agile, Waterfall and Scrum methodology
  • Experience working with GIS, Salesforce, SAP, Mulesoft and other technology related activities
  • Experience working with cloud technology: AWS, AZURE, One Cloud
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver on significant technology solutions/ business process improvements from concept to implementation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interacting with all levels of the organization with ease. This includes but is not limited to their team, peer network, and senior executives
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including demonstrated comfort with conflict resolution and direct, respectful communication to resolve disagreement
  • Ability to build and maintain strong and effective working relationships across departments
  • Working knowledge of PG&E’s Enterprise IT infrastructure, Cyber Security, and other technology domain
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
