Department Overview

The Data Management and Analytics Product Management team supports the development and implementation of software tools used both internally and externally across the organization. These tools vary in size and technical complexity and are built on a range of platforms and applications. They help drive operational efficiency, support wildfire risk reduction, improve system reliability, ensure regulatory compliance, and enable the successful delivery of electric engineering projects.  

 

Position Summary

The GenAI and Innovative Solutions Expert provides a clear vision of the product that will be built. From the vision the GenAI and Innovative Solutions Expert forms well defined user stories, prioritizes user stories and backlog and provides a clear-time line of the product. Maintains the technical integrity and quality of the features/components the team is responsible for. The GenAI and Innovative Solutions Expert focuses on the end-user experience, needs and features that drive a roadmap to deliver their vision. Builds and maintains relationships that allow the GenAI and Innovative Solutions Expert to act as the customer proxy. Uses influence to overcome hierarchal challenges.


This role will collaborate closely with data analysts, data engineers, GIS analysts, program leads, external vendors, and leadership to develop innovative, data-driven solutions. A strong understanding of emerging technology is critical to the role, including: AI/GenAI, machine learning fundamentals (supervised & unsupervised), neural networks and deep learning, natural language processing and computer vision, and remote sensing is critical. The ideal candidate will also think strategically about whether we should build or buy technical solutions, what features and applications will support client needs, will possess strong problem-solving abilities, and demonstrate a proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office(OGO) at least one day a week.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 
A reasonable salary range is:

 

Bay Area Minimum:$140,000
Bay Area Mid:$189,000

Bay Area Maximum:$238,000

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as peer reviewer of complex models.
  • Researches and applies advanced knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions.
  • Presents findings and makes recommendations to high level leaders.
  • Works with sponsor departments and company subject matter experts to understand application and potential of data science solutions which create value.
  • Assesses business implications associated with modeling assumptions, inputs, methodologies, technical implementation, analytic procedures and processes, and advanced data analysis.
  • Applies data science/ machine learning /artificial intelligence methods to develop defensible and reproducible predictive or optimization models which involve multiple facets and iterations in algorithm development.
  • Identifies the developmental needs of others, and coaches and mentors others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Identifies the appropriate customer audience, their preferred communication channels, and potential customer response benchmarks.
  • Leads complex or major projects with high corporate or functional priority.
  • Acts as primary liaison between various departments, Stakeholders, business community, and lines of businesses.
  • Develops implementation plans and establish teams to introduce new technology
  • Evaluates new products and equipment and keeps abreast of new products and/or equipment available in the market.
  • Provides product feedback and customer insight to support product development.
  • Partners with products organization to deliver feedback on existing products and introduce potential products for future programs.
  • Analyzes work plan and schedules to reallocate resources or reprioritize program work.
  • Develops new highly complex products.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or job-related discipline
  • Experience in Data Science, 6 years

Desired:

  • Experience in utility and energy industries
  • Experience as Product Owner / Product Manager, Agile environment
  • Agile Certification
