Department Overview

PG&E IT is a unified organization composed of various departments which collaborate effectively to plan, deliver, and operate high quality technology solutions. The Geographic Information System Center of Excellence (GIS CoE) department has the responsibility for maintaining and operating IT GIS applications that support Gas, Electric, Power Generation, IT Fiber, and other functional areas while also delivering IT projects and solutions in support of company business goals and priorities.

Position Summary

Today’s Digital Utility runs on data and information. To support our current and future needs while further advancing PG&E, we are seeking a highly skilled GIS Data Lead. This role will be instrumental in leading PG&E’s journey to modernize our Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) under our multiyear Elevate Program. This leader will ensure alignment with strategic business objectives, IT technical standards, and various dependent projects and programs. The successful candidate will have a direct impact to IT’s spatial data strategy, the outcomes of spatial data solutions, and will drive key architectural data decisions by technically guiding program resources, cross-functional partners, and application owners.

This role demands a strategic leader with a proven track record in helping support complex programs within a defined timeline, budget, and scope. Deep technical knowledge of the Esri ArcGIS platform, data structures, including utility network models, 3D, and raster GIS will be key to the success of this individual. Intrinsically, the candidate must be adept in managing stakeholder expectations, fostering seamless cross-functional collaboration, and passionately solving problems while balancing innovation with the realities of technical constraints. This position is hybrid, working both from your remote office as well as the Oakland General Office three days a week (on average).

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company—in good faith—believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum:  $147,000

Bay Area Maximum: $251,000
