Department Overview

The Operations Finance team provides critical financial support to the core organizational units of PG&E. This support includes financial analysis; budgeting, planning, and forecasting; monitoring, controlling, and accounting; operational performance reporting and analysis; and strategic planning and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company’s strategic, operational, and financial objectives.

Position Summary

This role will be placed within the Operations Finance organization supporting Electric Operations; a high performing, fast paced organization redefining the functional value proposition through engaged, innovative, and actionable insight.  

 

The Expert Operations Finance Analyst will provide consolidations as well as strategic finance support within a governance structure that guides and supports strategic decision making, capitalizes on investment opportunities, reduces costs, and enhances operational effectiveness. You will support the team members in creating and driving Business Unit (BU) financial plans, and driving corporate goals of forecast accuracy, budget attainment, and regulatory recovery.  You will monitor and report monthly/quarterly financial results, provide recommendations for decision making, and provide financial, operational, and regulatory decision support. You will ensure compliance to financial and regulatory policies and identify and drive cost and productivity improvements. 

 

Additionally, this role will contribute analytical support for high profile Electric programs, in addition to supporting the broader Electric Operations Finance team through governance, cost correction, data integrity, and necessary accounting duties.  

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA approximately once per week or more, depending on business need or company requirements.  

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Financial consolidations and core financial processes.  Ensures the timely and accurate completion of the following major financial management endeavors: the Integrated Planning Process, Program Forecasts, Catch back plans, and Trends. 
  • Team leadership: This consolidations lead will include support on training, DORs, WORs and providing backup coverage for other finance team members as needed.
  • Process improvement: Drive projects that improve automation, forecast accuracy, budget attainment, and regulatory recovery. Including but not limited to forecast modeling and waste elimination projects within finance
  • Risk identification and resolution: Identify financial and compliance risks and help develop plans to address.  Helping support from ideation, through socialization, to completion .
  • Build partnerships:  Our expert will support the WEO chief of staff organization with special projects that contribute to team goals.  This team member will flex to different areas that need most support.
  • Support and/or lead presentations to senior leaders
  • Provide guidance and training on forecasting methodologies to others and implement forecast tools/methods
  • Leads moderately to complex projects which may be cross-functional
  • Ownership of Regulatory reviews, data request reports, including leading process improvements to improve visibility and reporting
  • Reviews / Interprets Policies- Lvl 2 Provides guidance to others regarding the interpretation of policies, reporting requirements, rules, and regulations
  • Performs complex quality assurance on data to ensure accurate data is used in reports, and resolve issues as needed
  • Works on complex problems that have broad impacts and require in-depth analysis and judgment to obtain results or solutions
  • Provides expertise in the design of controls for new and existing processes.
  • Responds to data requests for incident investigations, compliance, regulatory audits, or customer inquiries
  • General Rate case and regulatory filing support
  • Business case development/validation (e.g., run EASOP analysis)
  • Guides others regarding interpreting policies, reporting requirements, rules, and regulations

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in accounting, or related, 6 years

 

Desired:

 

  • Expert in the PG&E cost model and high level of comfort in reading management financial statements
  • Process improvement experience -- Creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful
  • Forecast modeling experience
  • Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
  • Anticipating and adopting innovations in business-building digital and technology applications.
  • Interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators to make better business decisions.
  • Proficient in Regulatory knowledge.
  • SAP expertise and attention to detail

 

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position.  The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.  The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum and midpoint listed below.  The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

Bay Area Min: $122,000.00

Bay Area Mid: $158,000.00

Bay Area Max: $194,000.00
