Department Overview

Help us transform the electric utility industry from the inside! We are looking for leaders with a strategy and analytics background who can bring innovative and fresh ideas to modernize California’s electric grid to serve a high electrification future. The Electric Planning and Policy Modernization (EPPM) team aims to develop and externally represent new methods for preparing the distribution grid for high levels of transportation and building electrification and enable load flexibility and Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). The team works collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across the enterprise and externally to develop implementation plans for innovation. 

 

Position Summary

Develop and implement strategies to support distribution capacity planning incorporating understanding of customer needs, growth trends, business impacts and company vision. Work with regulators, key stakeholders and internal departments to influence the company and regulatory efforts around meeting the growing energization and interconnection needs of PG&E’s customers. Influence company and regulatory and industry priorities based on inputs from customer research, analytics of distribution planning and operational data, and PG&E strategies and priorities.

 

The assigned work location will be Oakland General Office (OGO). This position is hybrid, with working from a remote office as well as regularly from the assigned work location based on business need. Furthermore, occasional travel for various project-related functions is required approximately 5% of the time.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

 

A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $118,000
Bay Area Maximum: $188,000 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Works with little to no required guidance from upper management except for the most complex projects. 
  • Examines alternate solutions to a problem, effectively troubleshoots various issues and analysis, and provides findings and recommendations for internal clients and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to generate effective results and deliverables within dynamic, ambiguous and fast-paced environments
  • Develop new analytic tools including complex econometric modeling, forecasting, data analysis and evaluation to support strategic planning and decision making.
  • Prepares analytic support for regulatory filings and presents complex analysis to leadership or external parties.
  • Prepares and may lead preparation of testimony on complex analyses and policy issues.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Policy, Sociology, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience
  • Job-related experience, 6 years

 

Desired:

  • Graduate Degree in Economics or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 8 years
  • California policy experience
