Department Overview

The South Bay Delivery Program Management Office (PMO) leads the creation and execution of the breakthrough outcomes in delivering for the South Bay. The PMO is a new organization which will require leadership in bringing several internal and external pieces together to achieve ambitious breakthrough outcomes in our large load interconnection process, decarbonization and customer-facing work execution in San Jose.

 

The mission of the Performance Excellence Team is to dive into customer-facing work and processes within the city of San Jose and work to improve it to best-in-class performance. The team is responsible for establishing baseline performance and benchmark across the enterprise and with other utilities on performance. The team will drive process improvements in new business, the electric distribution work plan, customer outage journey and our reliability investment plan and execution.

 

Position Summary

The role of the Expert Strategic Analyst is to support the SB PMO in the development of data products that enable actionable business insights. The position will be primarily responsible for developing data visualization products, providing performance analysis and supporting the organization’s data needs to enable strategic decision making. Additionally, this role will be responsible for producing relevant presentation materials and supporting executive level process and performance report outs.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The preferred work location is Oakland, San Jose, or Dublin. Traveling between these locations may be required on a weekly basis.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $118,000

Bay Area Maximum: $188,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develops data visualization materials to enable operating reviews and progress report outs
  • Works with line of business subject matter experts to understand back-end data flows and develop views into operation performance
  • Provides strategic analysis and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership
  • Support organizations response to data and reporting requests
  • Prepares and may lead preparation of analysis and data to help guide policy issues

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Policy, Sociology, Engineering, Physics or other related fields or equivalent work experience
  • 6 years of job-related experience
  • Advanced Tableau and/or Power BI dashboard development skills
  • Proficiency in query writing in SQL and/or Python
  • Experience working in Foundry 

 

Desired:

 

  • Experience working with Lean Management Principles
  • Advanced knowledge of PG&E data sources including (CDW, Teradata, Salesforce, SAP, etc.)
  • Ability to present complex data and findings to internal audiences including senior and executive leaders and to external stakeholders, including using visualizations (e.g. Microsoft PowerBI) and storytelling with data
  • Strong analytical skills; highly effective verbal and written skills; highly effective presentation skills particularly involving audiences of senior and executive level leaders.
  • Desirable knowledgeable of Lean Six Sigma (LSS), process improvement and quality assurance methodologies; demonstrable skills related to fiscal accountability; knowledge of utility industry and company operations.
  • Knowledge of PG&E’s operational processes and procedures

 

The desired candidate has experience in value stream mapping, the lean operating system, process improvement work, and overall knowledge of PG&E workstreams and interdependencies.
