Department Overview
The Electric Risk Management (ERM) team plays a pivotal role in the evaluation, regulatory reporting, and investment planning process for PG&Es key and most consequential risks. The ERM team executes PG&Es risk decision framework that is used to support a data driven process to inform risk-based decisions with a focus on continuous improvement. The team works closely PG&E’s electric operations and asset strategy teams to identify and evaluate existing and emerging risks, support prioritization and quantification of risk mitigation strategies, monitor key performance and risk indicators, and aids the investment planning process and regulatory proceedings such as the WMP, RAMP, and GRC filings.
Position Summary
This position will work closely with the asset family owners, compliance teams, and SMEs to appropriately evaluate and implement a risk management framework. They will support our horizon scanning process by appraising new and emerging risks, help facilitate conversations to improve our key risk indicators (KRIs), and provide quantitative analysis to support a risk-based decision-making framework.
ERM supports the risk management of Wildfire (WLDFR), Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS), Distribution Overhead (DOVHD), Distribution Underground (DUNGD), Transmission Overhead (TOVHD), Transmission Underground (TUNGD), Distribution and Transmission Substation (DSBN, TSBN), and Public Contact with Intact Energized Electrical Equipment (PCEEE).
This position requires in-person office work three times a week.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
- Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $122,000.00
- Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $158,000.00
- Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $194,000.00
- Minimum Base Salary (California) $116,000.00
- Mid Base Salary (California) $150,000.00
- Maximum Base Salary (California) $184,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Develop strong relationships with our asset strategy, engineering, wildfire, regulatory, and compliance teams
- Work closely with asset family owners and compliance teams to evaluate new and emerging risks
- Facilitate conversations with SMEs and Risk Teams to enhance or develop new KRIs
- Assist in data collection efforts for risk analysis initiatives being conducted
- Leverage relationships and support the development of risk presentations for different audiences (e.g. RCC, SLT Risk Deep Dives, SNO Material)
- Other areas of support include: GRC and regulatory data requests and BPD deliverables
Qualifications-
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Seven years of experience in risk management, utility operations, and/or related field
Desired:
- 2+ years’ experience in electric operations, asset management and strategy
- Ability to synthesize complex issues into easy-to-understand concepts
- Ability to work across multiple functions and build strong working relationships
- Ability to influence varying levels of leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Ability to facilitate decision-making and engage appropriate SMEs in problem-solving teams
