Department Overview
The Operations Finance team provides critical financial support to the core organizational units of PG&E. This support includes financial analysis; budgeting, planning, and forecasting; monitoring, controlling, and accounting; operational performance reporting and analysis; and strategic planning and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company’s strategic, operational, and financial objectives.

Position Summary
This role will be placed within the Operations Finance organization supporting Enterprise Transformation Office & Corporate Affairs; a high performing, fast paced organization redefining the functional value proposition through engaged, innovative, and actionable insight.
The Expert Operations Finance Analyst will provide strategic finance support for Functional Area leaders within a governance structure that guides and supports strategic decision making, reduces costs, and enhances operational effectiveness. You will create and drive financial plans to meet the company’s financial and operational objectives. You will monitor and report monthly/quarterly financial results, provide recommendations for decision making, and provide financial, operational, and regulatory decision support. You will ensure compliance with financial and regulatory policies and identify and drive cost and productivity improvements.
The Expert Operations Finance Analyst will also be responsible for gathering, organizing, and synthesizing information from cross‑functional teams to produce clear, accurate, and high‑quality executive summaries. The compilation and consolidation of inputs ensure leadership receives concise, well‑structured updates that highlight key points, decisions, risks, and progress to support informed decision‑making.
This role will contribute analytical support for high profile programs, in addition to supporting the broader IT & Customer Operations Finance team through governance, cost correction, data integrity, and necessary accounting duties.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA approximately once per week or more, depending on business need or company requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures the timely and accurate completion of the following major financial management endeavors: the Integrated Planning Process, the S1 and S2 Processes, and Program Forecasts and Trends
- Provide guidance and training on forecasting methodologies to others and implement forecast tools/methods
- Reviews / Interprets Policies- Lvl 2 Provides guidance to others regarding the interpretation of policies, reporting requirements, rules, and regulations
- Performs complex quality assurance on data to ensure accurate data is used in reports, and resolve issues as needed
- Leads moderately to complex projects which may be cross-functional
- Works on complex problems that have broad impacts and require in-depth analysis and judgment to obtain results or solutions
- Provides expertise in the design of controls for new and existing processes.
- Responds to data requests for incident investigations, compliance, regulatory audits, or customer inquiries
- General Rate case support
- Business case development/validation
- Guides others regarding interpreting policies, reporting requirements, rules, and regulations
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- 5 years of job-related experience
Desired:
- Expert in the PG&E cost model and understands
- Making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
- Creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful.
- Anticipating and adopting innovations in business-building digital and technology applications.
- Interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators to make better business decisions.
- Proficient in Regulatory knowledge.
Compensation
PG&E provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $ 118,000.00
Bay Area Midpoint: $ 153,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $ 188,000.00
