Department Overview

Electric Asset Management is responsible for the electric system engineering and planning, asset strategy, and risk management across transmission, distribution, and substation asset families. Within our Asset Management organization, the distribution inspections strategy team leads development of strategy and guidance for distribution asset inspection and patrol programs for 2.3 million electric distribution structures, ensuring these programs are effectively identifying equipment conditions that are critical to address and operating in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements. 

 

Position Summary

The Expert Operations Data Analyst supports the development of strategies, work plans, and analysis for all distribution inspection programs, including aerial, ground, and infrared inspections. Key activities include the following:

 

  • Developing and validating inspection and maintenance work plans 
  • Building tools for modeling scenarios and displaying data and outcomes
  • Extracting data for analysis, leadership support and responses to data requests.
  • Monitoring and providing feedback on operations tools & databases 
  • Identifying and solving current gaps in data requirements and ease of access to ensure fast and consistent responses to leadership inquiries.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 
A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $122,000
Bay Area Maximum: $194,000

OR
California Minimum: $116,000
California Maximum: $184,000
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as team lead and provides direction to less experienced employees.
  • Analyzes data using various advanced statistical tools to develop complex ad hoc reports, statistics, trends and profiles.
  • Demonstrates and uses broad expertise in data processing and data analysis and applies this knowledge to a number of different issues.
  • Designs data analysis to achieve business objectives, process data, analyze data, write clear and concise data findings and tailor communications to specific audiences. Creates automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.
  • Develops comprehensive reports and communicates clear, concise and actionable data analyses for clients.
  • Manages complex data analysis projects with limited supervision on only the most complex projects from initial request to presenting data results ensuring that the project is completed within budget and on-time.
  • Manages very complex data extracts and list pulls ensuring data accuracy. Manages extracting data and transferring the data from databases to various analysts to support operational analysis efforts
  • Provides new and innovative solutions and recommendations to enhance database(s) with new data sources and improved data processes.
  • Works with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions.
     

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Job-related experience, 6 years

 

Desired:

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 8 years
  • Background in asset management
  • Familiarity with Python, Palantir Foundry, SAP, Power BI, SQL, and Tableau Desktop Applications
