Position Summary
PG&E Academy is looking for an Instructional Designer to join our PG&E Academy Curriculum Development Team in support of Gas Operations learning needs. This role works closely with the development team and clients to develop and maintain the learning content, tools, systems, and programs that support our employee’s ability to safely and efficiently perform their work and job tasks. This is accomplished via a wide range of methodologies, delivery mechanisms and formats to meet specific business needs. The Instructional Designer will work closely with subject matter experts as well as internal and external stakeholders to translate business and performance objectives into learning and performance support solutions and to ensure that employees are trained to competence.
Propel is a business and technology modernization program that will revolutionize PG&E’s way of working. Propel will standardize our business processes, enable innovation and unlock value across our core business functions as we move to a new version of SAP.
Elevate is PG&E’s enterprise-wide program to modernize and standardize our GIS platforms. GIS-based technology is critical to PG&E’s operations, supporting infrastructure and planning, emergency response and asset management. Elevate brings together electric, gas, power generation, land and telecom mapping systems into one connected network using Esri’s Utility Network (UN) technology.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office three times a week, or based on business need.
Job Responsibilities
- Apply specialized discipline in learning theory or technology to lead and implement initiatives that have impact beyond a single training project or program.
- Utilize benchmarking data, industry standards and best practices to provide guidance on and execution of programmatic learning and performance support solutions.
- Work with managers and directors across functions to lead the design and production of complex, cross-functional learning and performance support projects that require measuring job performance impact, business results and return on investment.
- Develop new and innovative training tools, methods, approaches and tactics or leading initiatives that build internal capabilities that drive innovation.
- Create instructional frameworks to support the development and execution of large-scale training programs.
- Coach, mentor and train other team members.
- Manage multiple priorities to deliver the solution on time, on target and on budget and align with change management adoption targets.
Background Qualifications
Minimum
- A Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Liberal Arts or related degree / field or equivalent work experience.
- 7 or more years of Instructional Design or Communications or Teaching or Training or Change Management, or Graphic Design work experience required.
- Progressive responsibility in an advanced instructional design capacity with skills and experience in designing and developing curriculum for large complex cross functional projects.
- Experience working on mid to large-size projects and/or training programs.
- Experience working with management to create learning solutions.
Desired
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- eLearning, mLearning, and Virtual Learning design and development experience.
- Working knowledge of work methods and processes in the different work streams PG&E is currently training on
Compensation
PG&E provides the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
- Bay Area Minimum: $118,000
- Bay Area Midpoint: $153,000
- Bay Area Maximum: $188,000
