Department Overview


Business Development & Implementation (BD&I) within Gas Strategy Execution and System Planning (GSESP) supports PG&E’s True North Strategy with the continued investment in a safe and reliable system, greening the gas supply, and shaping the state’s policies. The team’s focus is on continuing PG&E’s progress to decarbonize the company’s gas supply with renewable gas while aggressively pursuing gas throughput increases needed by our customers that utilize our system. These goals would not be possible without the concerted activities in developing and driving implementation of strategy and regulatory policies to enhance the foundation of our projects, processes, contracts, and agreements. As with any section of our business, there is a parallel path to enhance operational efficiency, continuous improvement, analysis, and benchmarking.


Position Summary

 

Gas Transmission Interconnection Managers are responsible for the overall management of new interconnections to PG&E’s gas transmission system. This includes processing customer applications for new service connections, working with engineering, operations and estimating to determine the appropriate location, facilities needed and cost, creating contracts to cover money advances as needed, negotiating special facility agreement as well as exceptional case agreements and obtaining all required company and regulatory approvals. Gas Transmission Interconnection Managers are also responsible for monitoring overall project milestones to ensure PG&E facilities are in place when required by the customer. The position is also responsible for all communications to the customer regarding the gas transmission interconnection. All employees are responsible for performing their jobs in accordance with PG&E’s vision and values.

 

Position will require approximately 25% of travel time in work schedule. 

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (Oakland). 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 
A reasonable salary range is:


Bay Area Minimum:$132,000
Bay Area Maximum: $226,000
 
 
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.


Job Responsibilities

•    Manages highly complex gas interconnections with PG&E’s gas transmission system
•    Ensure all steps are followed for finalizing new interconnections including obtaining official applications, ensuring job cost estimates are produced and communicated to customer, completing standard form contracts, negotiating special facility agreements and/or any exceptional case agreements and arrange for approval at the CPUC, and monitor progress in engineering, design, project management and construction to ensure facilities are completed by the time the customer needs service.
•    Manage all communications between the company and the customer regarding the interconnection
•    Support regulatory activities by writing testimony, responding to data requests, meeting with regulators and other IOUs, and providing content for regulatory filings
•    Demonstrates broad expertise in project management
•    Applies advanced knowledge to wide-ranging interconnection issues
•    Develops innovative solutions and drive process improvements for interconnections
•    Works with and leverages relationships with Directors and Managers within the department and across PG&E
•    Provide direction and coaching to less experienced team members

 

Qualifications-

Minimum Qualifications:  
•    Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Business, Marketing or related or equivalent experience
•    7 years of related experience in the natural gas industry


Desired Qualifications:
•    MBA or equivalent graduate degree
•    Project Management Certification
•    3 years of experience in interconnections, new business or related
•    Broad expertise in PG&E’s interconnection process and policies
•    Detailed understanding of PG&E’s accounting systems for project costs, deposits and regulatory accounts
•    Extensive knowledge and application of PG&E’s Gas Rules 15 and 16
•    Solid understanding and knowledge of the PG&E regulatory process and policies and those of the CPUC
•    Ability to lead and manage complex, difficult projects
•    Strong organizational skills
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
