Department Overview

The Corporate Security Emergency Operations Team is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) through comprehensive planning, coordination, and management of emergency response activities. The Emergency Operations Team’s mission is to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters, minimizing their impact on our employees, assets, and operations.

Emergency Operations is responsible for developing and implementing emergency response plans, conducting training and drills, and coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies. Emergency Operations works closely with various departments within the organization to ensure a cohesive and effective response to any emergency.

The Emergency Management Team is composed of highly skilled professionals with expertise in emergency management, crisis communication, and business continuity. They are committed to maintaining a state of readiness and continuously improving our emergency response capabilities. 

Position Summary

The Expert Program Manager for Emergency Operations plays a critical role in leading efforts to emergency response incidents such as wildfires or planned events such as a public safety power shutoff. In this role, you will also be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of emergency plans, managing response teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to work under pressure in high-stress situations.

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person In Vacaville or San Ramon at the Emergency Operations Center based on business needs.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum:             $122,000

Bay Area Midpoint:             $158,000              

Bay Area Maximum:            $194,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Conduct regular training and drills to ensure readiness and compliance with emergency protocols.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure a cohesive and effective response to emergencies.
  • Oversee the development and execution of emergency plans for incidents such as wildfires or planned events like public safety power shutoffs.
  • Manage and lead response teams during emergency situations, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential threats and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain and update emergency operations records and documentation.
  • Provide regular reports on emergency preparedness and response activities to senior management.
  • Collaborate with various departments within the organization to integrate emergency response plans and ensure business continuity.
  • Manage program budgets and allocate resources effectively to support emergency operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with law enforcement and other emergency response agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Corporate Security and Emergency Operations leadership.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, Criminal Justice, or related discipline or equivalent work experience in business
  • 8 years of related work experience preferably in emergency operations
  • Must be able to qualify for NERC/CIP clearance

Desired:

  • Experience at working in an Emergency Operations Center at the command and/or executive level
  • Master’s degree in emergency management, Criminal Justice, or related field
  • Completion of Incident Command System Courses, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 700
  • Military, law enforcement, and/or fire services background
  • Advanced certifications in Program Management or Emergency Management
