The Strategy and Growth functional area is dedicated to long-term strategic and infrastructure planning. With electricity demand expected to double over the next 15 years, we’re building an energy system of the future for the world’s fourth-largest economy. It includes Energy Policy and Procurement, Strategy and Innovation, Integrated Long-Term Planning, and the Commercial Growth Organization.  

 

Position Summary

Manages contracts with various entities such as non-tariff partners or Federal Regulatory Energy Commission (FERC) jurisdictional wholesale transmission and distribution interconnection contracts. Act as subject matter expert on the assigned contracts and coordinate legal and regulatory contract and reporting issues.  May maintain and build relationships with critical customer representatives. May interact with externally entities such as regulators, courts, competitors, and customers as required.

 

Major Responsibilities Include:

  • Contract Management -Primary PG&E contact responsible for all aspects of the PG&E/customer contractual relationship.  Ensure contract provisions are managed and applied appropriately negotiating new or amended contracts. Resolve disputes with the counterparty. Represents PG&E externally and acts as customer advocate internally.
  • Project Management - Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure timely deployment of projects and facilitate the resolution of issues relating to projects.
  • Policy and Compliance - Develop and maintain documentation for policies and procedures. Ensure effective and sustainable controls are in place to meet compliance requirement.
  • Billing and Settlement Compliance - Ensure the contract provisions are accurately reflected in the billing and settlement calculations. This includes possible reviews of bills, schedule and meter data, and on-going communication with the PG&E billing representative to make sure that any contract amendments, settlements, adjustments, etc. are reflected in the billing calculation.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $​114,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​182,000

  • Negotiates major policy issues independently.
  • May handle at least one of the most complex agreements or contracts.
  • Represents PG&E in external forums.
  • May act as an expert witness.
  • Transmission Contract Manager may handle special research projects for the section.
  • Manages accounting, financial and cash flow or policy and contract development processes.
  • Leads negotiations of contract terms with connecting utilities and transmission owners including issues of disagreement
  • Leverages experience to develop solutions with Engineering and Legal teams
  • Uses detailed understanding of systems studies to interpret System Impact Study results and propose solutions
  • Utilizes experience implementing FERC, CAISO, and tariff requirements for major transmission projects

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering or related degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Job-related experience, 6 years

Desired:

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience
  • Negotiations Experience
  • Experience implementing FERC, CAISO, and tariff requirements for major transmission projects
  • Utility Experience
