Department Overview

Electric Transmission & Distribution ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Transmission & Distribution Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Coworkers in Electric Transmission & Distribution actively engage in the Lean Methodology through the use of visual management in operating reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems, and create standard work. Position Summary

This position requires a candidate with strong mapping expertise to support risk mitigation, governance implementation, and strategic visioning for the GIS asset registry. The successful candidate will partner cross-functionally with stakeholders, business process owners, and technical teams to identify asset registry risks, develop sustainable solutions, and implement governance practices that improve data quality, consistency, and operational reliability. While the substation asset registry will be the primary focus, experience supporting other mapping disciplines— including transmission and distribution—is a plus, as this role may support broader electric asset registry and mapping needs as business priorities evolve. This position will play a key role in advancing the organization toward its long-term vision for a trusted, governed, and strategically aligned asset registry.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​122,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​194,000

&/OR​

California Minimum: $​116,000

California Maximum: $184,000

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide expert consulting in strategy, business, and GIS user needs.
  • Analyze and document requirements for complex projects.
  • Analyze end-to-end GIS processes to identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and opportunities for automation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the GIS Asset Registry, including data governance, system capabilities, business processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action planning for data quality and process issues.
  • Anticipate concerns and questions, and provide proactive, timely and professional communications or delegate as appropriate.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Asset Registry data quality programs and initiatives.
  • Support enterprise efforts to maintain a trusted system of record for electric asset information.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean, continuous improvement, and standard work methodologies.
  • Contribute to data governance and data model discussions & decisions.
  • Participate in program and initiative estimates
  • Develop and maintain data governance standards, procedures, controls, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor asset data quality performance metrics, identify trends, and drive corrective actions to improve data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, regulatory commitments, and data management standards.
  • Build strong partnerships across GIS, Electric Operations, Asset Management, Data Governance, Compliance, Engineering, and Information Technology organizations.
  • Perform complex data analysis using enterprise reporting and GIS tools to support decision-making.
  • Facilitate working sessions, leadership reviews, and governance meetings to drive alignment and decision-making.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 7 years of job related experience in Business, IT or Engineering fields.
  • Participation in projects of high complexity at an expert level or in a leadership role.

Desired:

  • Graduate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in business, job-related, 8 years
  • Experience in GIS, data management, or related, 6 years
  • Expert knowledge of GIS systems, asset data management, and utility business processes.
  • Strong experience with business analysis, requirements management, data governance, and process improvement.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving technology, operations, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives into executable business solutions and measurable outcomes.
