Department Overview

 

The Finance True North Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for cross functional, multi-year projects supporting Finance’s transformation journey. In addition to ensuring the successful execution of projects related to core Finance functions such as financial reporting, accounting close, strategic modeling, and more, the PMO is responsible for the improvement of Finance’s foundational capabilities overall and supporting the culture shift along the way. The team organizes the Finance Innovation Summit, a full-day event covering the latest in technology for Finance professionals, applications of company automation tools, and opportunities to connect and network. The Finance True North PMO is instrumental in achieving Finance’s vision of unlocking value for our customers and shareholders. You will be part of an engaged and passionate team with a Finance organization with over 440 coworkers.

 

Position Summary

 

The Expert Business Project Manager will incorporate a disciplined project management approach and best practices for the projects within the Finance True North Program Portfolio. These projects include some of the most complex and cross functional projects within the Company and once executed will create long-standing changes and improvements in the ways that we operate in Finance and across the Company.

 

In this role, you will collaborate closely with executive sponsors and project leads to keep projects on track, provide training and support on project management tools and deliverables, connect interdependencies across the projects and Finance, and help remove any barriers to success. You will also facilitate problem solving sessions and workshops with project teams. Those sessions may include efforts such as problem statement definition, gap analysis, root cause analysis, process mapping (current and target state), project execution planning, and/or coaching on project management deliverables. You will maintain a clear cadence and structure with project teams and support them in preparations for a monthly governance forum to allow for executive decision making. You will also facilitate trainings and provide newsletters and guides to reinforce concepts and build project management competencies within the Finance organization.

 

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office 1-2x weekly or based on business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum:        $118,000     

Bay Area Maximum:       $188,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Provide guidance, support, and coaching to project leads, sponsors, and teams
  • Guide project team leads and sponsors to develop project charter, including problem statement, business case, project scope and objectives, and milestones
  • Establish project team with agreed upon roles and responsibilities
  • Monitor project performance, provide reporting and analysis, and maintain a repository of project information
  • Facilitate working sessions as needed with project teams to address project issues / risks or to develop project deliverables
  • Identify, analyze, and address project performance issues and help teams with escalation
  • Enhance or establish policies, procedures, governance, structure, and templates to ensure the successful and consistent execution of all projects
  • Provide training and support on project management tools and templates
  • Identify and communicate lessons learned and best practices
  • Coordinate and execute certain tasks in preparation for the Finance Innovation Summit

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:  

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • PMP Certification
  • 8 years of related work experience

  • Portfolio management or project management experience with integration of diverse projects
  • Ability to lead problem solving sessions and cross-functional workshops
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and provide respectful feedback
  • Ability to simplify and reduce issues to their fundamental causes

  • Highly organized, with demonstrated ability to plan and balance multiple priorities at once

  • Strong skills in project management, benchmarking, and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PG&E business
