Department Overview

The Information & Records Governance (IRG) organization is an enterprise-wide program advancing the information and records management program maturity of the Functional Areas (FA) through implementation of compliant, efficient, and systematic controls for the creation, receipt, maintenance, use, and disposition of records. 
 
IRG is responsible for transforming PG&E’s information and records asset management practices to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and promote safe and effective business operations. IRG is responsible for policy, strategy, and guidance for records and information assets, monitoring compliance and supporting the development of consistent and integrated processes that promote the responsible management of the information lifecycle to further PG&E’s immediate and future regulatory, legal and operational requirements.

 

Position Summary

This position will serve as a Business Analyst, Expert reporting to the Supervisor, Electronic Content and Disposition.  The position will manage the Data Disposition Program’s self-service work stream, supporting business partners as they implement disposition functionality in PG&E systems. Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Manage the data disposition self-service work stream, handling project management, intake, coordination, documentation and approvals related to data retention, privacy, and disposition.  
  • Support potentially complex exercises with the business including retention determination, data lineage, and disposition execution.  
  • Track approvals and maintain audit trails to support compliance reporting.  
  • Improve the processes and self-service Power App tool as the self-service volume increases over time, including automating and streamlining as opportunities arise.  
  • Lead collaborative efforts with the Data Disposition IT team as needed.  

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business needs or company requirements. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader.

 

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint $122k-$158k. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

Bay Area Min: $122,000

Bay Area Mid: $158,000

Bay Area Max: $194,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs analysis on highly complex data models that have cross-functional impacts. 
  • Applies advanced knowledge to wide-ranging issues related to data and information lifecycle management and systems of record. 
  • Develops innovative data solutions to address complex business issues. Presents findings and proposed recommendations to leaders. 
  • Develop business cases in support of strategy or change initiatives. 
  • Works with and leverages relationships with Directors and Managers across functions / PG&E. 
  • Supports implementation of a company-wide data disposition program, coordinating with internal stakeholders to achieve alignment, and integrating with existing records and asset inventories.  
  • Engages with application/system stakeholders to understand the technology involving structured systems containing data, information, and records, and determines needed actions for IRG response and support.  
  • Responds to internal requests, aligning with IRG’s service/support model, to ensure continued and/or improved information and records compliance practices. This could include non-routine problems that require in-depth analysis and judgement to drive compliance with IRG standards and procedures.  
  • Manages cross-functional projects or initiatives, including regularly reporting project status and metrics. 
  • Identifies and coordinates process improvement activities to ensure consistency, cohesiveness and application of best practices, to align with organization’s performance goals.

Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • BS in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience required. 
  • 6 years of related work experience 

 
Desired:  

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Library and Information Systems, Information Technology, Legal Studies, or related discipline. 
  • Experience in utility operations. 
  • Certification in information governance/records management or data management. 
  • Knowledge of records management, information governance and/or data management. 
  • Strong communication skills for all levels of organization, both verbal and in writing. 
  • Project management skills. 
  • Ability to work across multiple functions and build strong working relationships. 
  • Ability to facilitate decision-making. 
  • Ability to synthesize complex issues into easy-to-understand concepts. 
  • Ability to influence varying levels of leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
