Position Summary

 

This position supports aspects of the Vegetation Management Operational Analytics implementation and operations.  This position analyzes data from situational awareness tools and models into key data takeaways and actionable work for execution.  This position is expected to develop analyses, create and maintain operational reporting, and respond to data requests about program objectives.  This position is expected to drive down vegetation failures on the system to ensure the safety of our customers.  

 

  • This position is hybrid. You will work from your remote office and your assigned location based on business needs. The headquarters is located in PG&E’s Oakland General Office.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, particular skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
 

A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $122,000
Bay Area Maximum: $194,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $116,000
California Maximum: $184,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Works with all levels of leadership across functions to influence decisions.
•    Works independently on highly complex issues. Applying advanced knowledge and problem-solving skills to wide-ranging topics. Integrates industry knowledge related to data into everyday business practices and decision-making.
•    Manages very complex data extracts and list pulls, ensuring data accuracy
•    Manages extracting data and transferring the data from databases to various analysts to support operational analysis efforts
•    Develops comprehensive reports and communicates clear, concise, and actionable data analysis for clients utilizing tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Foundry, and/or similar
•    Designs data analysis to achieve business objectives, processes data, analyzes data, writes clear and concise data findings, and tailors communications to specific audiences
•    Creates automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery, ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing
•    Demonstrates and uses broad expertise in data processing and data analysis, and applies this knowledge to several different issues
•    Analyzes data using various advanced statistical tools to develop complex ad hoc reports, statistics, trends, and profiles

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

•    Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, applied sciences, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, or similar quantitatively focused subject areas, or job-related experience
•    6+ years of relevant experience in data science or advanced analytics OR master’s degree and job-related experience, 3 years.

 

Desired:

 

•    Strong oral and written communication skills
•    Proven history of collaboration or paired development work
•    Proficiency with relational databases, preferably SQL
•    Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, D3, or Plotly
•    Skilled in programming languages, with a preference for Python
•    Familiarity with GIS applications
•    Active involvement or strong interest in vegetation management
•    ISA Arborist/Utility Specialist certification or Registered Professional Forester designation
