Position Summary

 

This role will work closely with leadership in the PG&E Vegetation Management (VM) department – Customer Experience & Stakeholder Engagement team to develop analyses and identify trends to help manage progress towards the VM department’s operational and financial goals. Business Analysts are responsible for research, data analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to support business decision-making, strategy, and operations. They may also be involved in business process improvement, quality control, special projects, and other initiatives.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company, in good faith, believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.  
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $114,000
Bay Area Maximum: $182,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $108,000
California Maximum: $173,000


This job can also participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

This position is hybrid. You will work from your remote office and your assigned location based on business needs. The headquarters location is in Oakland, CA.

 

Responsibilities typically include many or all of the following:
•    Data Analysis: Compiles and analyzes data. May develop and maintain data models for what-if analysis and other business purposes. Prepare and summarize analyses of financial, customer experience, or operational data for executive leadership
•    Metrics and Reporting: Develops and tracks business metrics. Develops and maintains standard, custom, and ad-hoc reports. Tracks progress towards internal and external metrics of success for the VM Customer Experience & Stakeholder Engagement team and the broader VM organization.
•    Budgeting & Forecasting: Develops or works with budgets and forecasts, such as by supporting development of monthly or annual forecasts, tracking actual spend versus budget and forecast across vendors, monitoring of financial orders and how spend is hitting those order numbers.
•    Best practices: Researches best practices; develops internal and external benchmarks supporting business decisions. Monitor adherence to company policies/procedures/ tools by people leaders/ budget owners. 
•    Project Management: Lead projects, determining scope, budget, timeframes, forming teams, assigning tasks, managing resources, and addressing issues.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Performs analysis on highly complex data models that have cross-functional impact.
•    Applies advanced knowledge to broad-ranging issues.
•    Develops innovative data solutions to address complex business issues. Presents findings and proposed recommendations to leaders.
•    Develop business cases in support of strategy or change initiatives.
•    Works with and leverages relationships with VP, Directors, and Managers across functions / PG&E.
•    Manages cross-functional projects or initiatives.
•    May provide direction and coaching to other Business Analysts.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

•    BS in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
•    Six years of related work experience

 

Desired:

 

•    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI applications
•    Familiarity with Utility Vegetation Management program management
•    Strong verbal and nonverbal communications
•    Effective communicator across all levels of an organization
•    Extensive knowledge of different analytical methods, approaches, and tactics
•    Broad expertise in what-if modeling analysis, concepts, methods, and techniques, and analysis of how different factors affect business outcomes

•    Influence skills to effectively gain buy-in from leaders inside and outside the department. Knowledge and understanding of key drivers affecting business results
