Department Overview

PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

 

Position Summary

Leads a dedicated team responsible for maintaining accurate and secure engineering documentation and records for Power Generation’s facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of all engineering records. The ideal candidate will focus on system optimization, enhancing the functionality and efficiency of electronic systems used for managing and accessing engineering documentation, while also providing robust user support and training for engineers, project managers, and field personnel. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to data accuracy, security, and continuous improvement in supporting safe and efficient operations across Power Generation facilities.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​126,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​200,000

OR​

California Minimum: $​120,000

California Maximum: $190,000

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leads document management teams that provide support for Power Generation’s hydro, fossil and renewable energy facilities throughout the service territory. 
  • Promotes the highest level of team safety through communications and continuous improvement.
  • Promotes accountability through recognition, coaching, training and development and encourages teamwork, commitment, and quality work products.
  • Forecasts workloads and matches with appropriate short- and long-term resource plans. Supports resource need for transformation initiatives and standard development.
  • Assigns individual and team projects to balance projects and initiatives.
  • Tracks schedule and cost performance and ensures delivery of high-quality services and products.
  • Provides support and solicits feedback from other departments (O&M, Engineering, Project Management, etc.) regarding all aspects of the workload.
  • Maintains the integrity and security of all engineering documents and records, ensuring they are accurate, up-to-date, and protected against loss or unauthorized changes.
  • Looks for and recommends process changes to improve productivity, quality, and customer focus. Supports related department initiatives.
  • Continuously improves electronic systems used to store, manage, and view engineering documentation, making them more intuitive, reliable, and efficient.
  • Supports and maintains a good working relationship with bargaining unit representatives and employees.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience/education in drafting or document management
  • 5 years of experience in drafting, engineering, or document management
  • May require some overnight travel for employee engagement and meetings

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in Project Controls at a team leader or supervisory level
  • Experience with supervision/leadership in engineering, drafting or document management.
  • Experience with OpenText Documentum D2 and Bentley ProjectWise.
  • Knowledge of drafting and document management practices, standards and processes.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Influence skills.
  • Collaboration and team building skills.
  • Strong MS Office and Teams skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable bargaining unit contract(s).
