Department Overview
The Electric Engineering team ensure all manners of electric engineering — including electric standards and process safety, electric asset planning, electric risk ownership, electric asset strategy and management, design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning — are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects.
Position Summary
The Electric Transmission Line (T-line) Asset Strategy Leadership job family leads the team responsible for asset strategy for transmission overhead and underground lines and substations. Incumbents are responsible for developing electric transmission Line asset strategy and asset development proposals and for managing and improving performance of the electric transmission assets from a long and short-term, reliability, asset-centric perspective. Incumbents partner with internal departments and cross-functional teams to establish the safest, most reliable, and cost- effective electric transmission infrastructure system, and will communicate with regulators, customers and other external stakeholders to advance PG&E's objectives through regulatory proceedings and frameworks including TO filing, WMP and others.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $159,000
Bay Area Maximum: $271,000
Job Responsibilities
- Develops long-term-strategy project proposals for substation and overhead line infrastructure. Ensures strategy is consistent, developed in concert with stakeholders (e.g. Risk Management, Transmission Compliance), and aligned with company objectives.
- Creates risk and data-based decision support tools to identify sustainability issues and inform asset strategy planning.
- Oversees the engineers tasked with creating plans for specific assets. Ensures annual and strategy documents are completed and updated.
- Develops and manages development budgets, regularly monitoring expenses against forecast, providing explanation or justification for budget items and/or variances.
- Manages Professional employees but may manage supervisors.
- Oversees the engineers and specialists tasked with creating short-term risk mitigation plans and investment plans for T-line assets.
- Ensures regulatory filings, reports and documents are completed and updated.
- Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, rewards and recognition.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 8 years of engineering experience, including experience with cycle time planning of assets and strategy related to infrastructure asset development
Desired:
- Masters Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience
- PE-Professional Engineer license
- Asset management experience
- Risk management experience
