The team manages PG&Es key strategic risks including wildfire, distribution/transmission/substation reliability, and public safety.  The team plays a critical role in evaluating the different control and mitigation strategies to minimize our risk which informs the investment planning process. You will gain unparalleled insight into the WHY and HOW behind our strategies. This team will help shape the future of electric safety and innovation.

 

Position Summary

The intern will play a pivotal role in enhancing and streamlining templates and processes for the Electric Risk Management team. The intern will support the team by refining our risk models, diving into assumptions that are used in our risk-based cost-effective analysis and providing feedback on investment of resources. You will also gain exposure into the regulatory process.  This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and has a knack for numbers.

 

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $19.91 to $36.42.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing data analysis to support risk assessments on projects, processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of risk-based models to drive appropriate risk mitigation activities and controls.
  • Support the coordination between asset family strategists, regulatory, and risk management teams to drive risk mitigation strategies.
  • Help prepare reporting and analysis for the line of business and the enterprise.
  • Participate in the development and coordination of presentation materials for various levels of management.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field (students MUST be continuing education towards degree during and/or after internship)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

 

Desired Qualifications

  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow teammates
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
  • Knowledge of current utility and energy industry issues and trends
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
