Department Overview

The Wildfire Risk Organization is responsible for assisting the company to act decisively and transparently to prevent fires of consequence from being caused by our equipment.  The organization will develop objectives to 1) prevent fires of consequence originating from our equipment; 2) meet all commitments outlined in our Wildfire Mitigation Plan; 3) continue to foster trusted relationships with key stakeholders; and 4) develop consistent processes and work standards through the implementation of the Lean Operating System for sustainable operations.

 

Position Summary

The Principal Electric Program Manager plays a crucial role in supporting PG&E’s wildfire risk reduction efforts. This position also leads the development strategic plans to meet regulatory or internal wildfire risk reduction goals.  This individual engages with diverse and cross-functional partners to educate and engage PG&E’s communities, customers, partners and others regarding wildfire risks and risk mitigation activities. The individual will lead large and complex cross-functional teams in gathering, drafting, finalizing and providing written and oral responses and testimony in wildfire-related regulatory, legislative and other proceedings, workshops and hearings.  This is a fast-paced, high-impact and high-visibility role that puts this individual right in the center of the company’s wildfire mitigation activities.

  • This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

 

Bay Minimum: $144,000
Bay Maximum: $244,000

CA Minimum: $137,000
CA Maximum: $232,000

 

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. 
 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop written responses and testimony in wildfire-related regulatory, legislative and other proceedings, workshops and hearings.
  • Analyze regulatory requirements and coordinate with LOB partners to meet requirements through written testimony, supporting documentation, and/or development of strategic programs/activities.
  • Provide reporting to stakeholders and leadership team on all aspects of the Wildfire Mitigation Plan; Synthesize complex and diverse datasets to facilitate strategic decision-making. Partners with Manager/Director to determine most appropriate and effective program performance metrics. Develops content and format for reports and dashboards. Prepares and presents regular updates to senior management, addressing issues and gaining buy in on solutions.
  • Lead or support the development and curation of the annual Wildfire Mitigation Plan, including developing project plan, managing strategic priorities, and coordinating with stakeholders on strategic mitigation activities and analytics/reporting requirements.
  • Develop and foster trusted working relationships with all strategic programs and LOB partners.
  • Applies depth and breadth of knowledge of Program Management to the most unique and complex problems. Works autonomously. Anticipates issues and develops innovative solutions. Demonstrates program leadership with internal & external stakeholders to support company goals. May design and develop new, complex programs.
  • Represent PG&E to external agencies on sensitive or complex issues. Partners with Regulatory/Legal/Government Relations or other partner organizations in developing messaging and strategy.
  • May manage major cross-functional projects and initiatives. May lead initiatives that impact utility or industry developments.
  • Leads peers and partner organizations to develop and implement new and/ or improved processes, procedures, policies, controls and best practices to improve customer satisfaction, efficiencies, regulatory compliance and reduce costs.
  • Leads benchmarking efforts/projects in the industry to share information, seek best practices in electric program management. Develops recommendations for PG&E, develops proposals/business case and presents to senior management. Gains buy in and leads implementation.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 10 years

  • Highly exceptional writing skills, experienced with analyzing complex and technical content and translating into easily digestible content and compelling storytelling for wider audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build trusting relationships to align multiple stakeholders around strategic priorities

  • Self-starter, takes initiative to drive continuous improvement and excellence, and can work independently
  • Ability to influence leaders inside and outside of the department through data analysis, insights and recommendations

  • Experience in maintenance and construction, electric
  • PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
