Department Overview

 

The Vegetation Management leadership leads staff and outside contractors to ensure public safety, electric reliability, and regulatory compliance with state and federal vegetation management rules. The Construction Management team ensures goals and objectives are aligned by workstreams to support Vegetation Management’s operational and strategic initiatives. Focused on delivering solutions to ensure vegetation management work is performed safely, establishing cost controls and compliance procedures, process improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, and standardization, and development of central invoicing processes. 

 

 

Position Summary

 

Leads staff to ensure public safety, electric reliability and regulatory compliance with state and federal vegetation management rules. Serves as a subject matter expert, provides guidance and influence, and acts as an external leader in the industry on regulatory issues and market strategies. Partners with customers and public entities to monitor and manage vegetation proximity to PG&E assets to ensure system reliability and safety objectives. Promotes and adheres to all company and regulatory safety guidelines and requirements.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

 

Reporting Relationship

 

This position reports to the Senior Director, Vegetation Construction Management

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Leads the work with department to develop budget (expense, capital, and expenditures) and monitor, forecast and report on budget performance.
  • Communicates to external agencies and deals with the most complex and sensitive issues with customers and public entities escalated from others. May speak with elected officials, regulatory bodies and others, representing PG&E’s position regarding vegetation issues.
  • Leads and facilitates Short-term or long-term planning, and defines plan goals and objectives.
  • Supports relationships with business units and external agencies.
  • Oversees resolution of complex projects and issues.
  • Manages and create relationships with external vendors and/or internal stakeholders, and continue to identify best practices.
  • Leads and oversees all aspects of operations or work execution to meet Vegetation Management or Enhanced Vegetation Management requirements.
  • Leads Governance & Support, and Operations for Vegetation Management department.
  • Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development & succession, performance management, and rewards and recognition.

Compensation

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.  This leadership role is also eligible for an annual Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP), as well as the Long Term Incentive Plan (LTIP).

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Bay Area Minimum: $170,000

Bay Area Maximum:$290,000

 

Or

 

California Minimum:$162,000

California Maximum:$276,000

 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 12 years
  • Leadership experience, 7 years
  • CA Class C License, or equivalent

 

Desired:

 

  • Strong knowledge of forestry and/or utility vegetation management concepts, methods and techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of current utility and energy industry, economic and social & political issues, trends and business drivers.

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience
  • PMP-Project Management Professional certification
  • ISA-International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Utility Specialist certification
