Department Overview
The Business Finance teams provide financial planning and reporting services to PG&E and is responsible for providing strategic direction and coordination in respect to strategic functional area planning processes, financial planning, forecasting, analytics and reporting.

The Value Delivery program, part of the Business Finance team, is a transformative effort to optimize PG&E’s strategy to realize value to support the company's long-term growth while maintaining affordability for our customers. With the goal of improving our Cap/Expense ratio over a six-year period - representing $1-$2B in savings, the program will lead the enterprise plan to deliver operational efficiency and financial performance.

 

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and accomplished Director / Chief to lead and support major strategic cost reduction and performance improvement initiatives as part of the Value Delivery program across PG&E. This senior role requires a strong operational leader with a proven track record of delivering on long term and high impact transformational and continuous improvement projects. They will leverage PG&E’s performance playbook (lean, breakthrough and PSEMS) and leads through exemplary understanding and application of PG&E’s virtues, especially curiosity and tenacity.

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Leads and supports major cross-functional cost reduction and performance initiatives across workforce management, working closely with operations leadership in electric, gas, vegetation management and functional leaders in sourcing, IT and other areas
  • Collaborates across organization, and other strategic initiatives, to ensure alignment of goals to support program
  • Support development of materials and running of Value Delivery’s daily, weekly and monthly operating reviews and Command Center
  • Identifies, tracks and communicates key trends, leading operating models, lean practices, across utilities and related industries that can be adopted across operations and functions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to develop and execute strategies that align expense planning with projected growth while controlling costs
  • Develop hypotheses, develop improvement levers, conduct detailed analysis, conduct interviews/ workshops, quantify impact, obtain business buy-in and develop roadmap
  • Define & implement outcome-based metrics to support operations to deliver savings
  • Leverage the Lean playbook to enhance adoption and enrollment across the organization
  • Researches, analyzes, and responds to various inquiries and issues and develops recommendations to support decision making actions
  • May represent the leader at various meetings and/or activities
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced employees

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office 2-3x weekly or based on business needs. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.   

 

A reasonable salary range is:​  

 

Bay Area Minimum:      $178,000.00       

Bay Area Maximum:     $304,000.00

 

Qualifications 

 

Minimum: 

  • Bachelor’s degree ior equivalent years’ related work experience
  • 12 years of relevant experience with 2-5 years of experience in finance, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, restructurings and/or strategic planning.

 

Highly Desired: 

  • Experience within operations transformation, strategic sourcing, or EBITDA improvement in management consulting, private equity or related industries
  • Demonstrates financial bottom-line orientation and solid business acumen to drive strategic initiatives that achieve significant financial return
  • Highly organized, with demonstrated ability to plan and balance multiple priorities at once
  • Ability to work effectively with senior staff members and executive leadership
  • Extraordinary analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong skills in project management, benchmarking, and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PG&E business
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate large, complex organizations and achieve results
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, database applications and other related tools
  • Advanced degree in business administration, operations, engineering or computer science
  • Demonstrated ability and influence to effectively navigate complex organizational process and political challenges
  • Experience with lean, six sigma, visual management especially in services industries
  • Ability to simplify and reduce issues to their fundamental causes
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills– including ability to interact, collaborate, and influence at the executive level
  • Experience with PG&E's cost model
